Hi All,

If you have a client who comes to you and want's her nail enhancements taken off and replaced for whatever reason, how do you know if the gel is a BUFF OFF or SOAK OFF??? If she had the original enhancements by another nail technician??

I can usually tell once i start to file...but i would file one nail...wrap and soak and then work on the others...go back and check on the nail and if its going gooey then its soak off and you can do the rest...if not then continue to file them all off.

If the nails are fine and your client doesn't object i would just infill them.

Also ask her...she might know what gel it is...quite often if clients have been having their nails done alot they pick up the names of whats used.

Also, I find if the nail is gel only and it's a soakable, it will be flexible almost like a natural nail. Regular gels and acrylics will be hard as rocks.

Try giving it a wipe with acetone. A buff off gel will keep it's shine but a soak off will dull.
