I am about to put out my leaflets advertising myself, but just wanted to ask a few questins:
What do you find are the most common reasons clients may come back to you with problems apart from a little bit of lifting i.e. split acrylic/split tip, broken nail etc.
Also what would you do to rectify the problems i.e. thn out and reapply/soak off and start that naio again etc
???

if a client came in with a split nail or partially broken nail, would you soak off and do again or is this where forms are needed?
If no forms, whats the next best option?

It depends where the break is and how severe it is... if it would require a lot of work to repair then it would be quicker and easier to remove, however, if they've chipped the free edge then during the rebalance you could apply a form to replace the missing bit of the enhancement.

Hiya ... There are a few...you have mentioned them all. This is what i do...

Lifting...File and remove all lifting and re-build...soak off/file off and re do if the lifting is alot.

Cracks...Agaian.. either file or soak off if its bad...but if its tender and/or has cracked the natural nail then its kinder and safer to clean well...apply adhesive to the crack...hold back togther..overlay. It might not look like the best nail in the world but it will protect it until its grow out enough to file down and re-do. It also takes the pain away.

Chips.. thin down, remove any lift...re-apply product.

Breaks...Thin down...re-sculpt/tip.

And charge em !!...

I find most clients have
  • Broken it while falling over drunk (nope im not lying)
  • Trapped in a car door / boot etc...
  • Just had it in their mouth and it cracked ..(yup the odd one or 2 do actually admit to it lol)
  • I had one text me to say a nail had fell off  when she came, she was actually breaking her friends front door down as she was locked out, and the nail BROKE off at full force !
I usually find, if the acrylic has a vertical split in it, the client (or myself :o )
Has had the nail in their mouth they don't think they have BIT the nail, as they havent applied much pressure, but the angle they get it at, causes the crack...hard to explain,
Better to demonstrate that one lol

  • If the nail only has a chip in it, I would thin out the free edge, apply a form and sculpt the missing part,
  • If it is a full free edge that has come off leaving behind the nail bed acrylic, I would thin that out, and reapply the whole enhancment (depending on the condition of course)
  • Any cracks or anything in the nail bed area, I would file the bulk, then soak off the rest,And reapply a whole new nail..just incase any nasties had gotten into the crack, I wouldn't want to be putting new product over the top allowing bacteria to form.
xxx

Just read Angies post and I didnt mention....if the crack was a severe one, I would do the same as Angie.
The type of crack I was refering to was only an iddy biddy crack, not the painfull type.

Thought I best just clear that up incase because of me somebody took a file to a client in agony with a severe crack lol
