Dear all,

I have been asked by my childrens nursery to come into their holiday club (4-11 year olds) and give a fun talk about nails.

I plan on prehaps getting them to paint each others nails and also to print out some pics of a nail and then get each child to "decorate" their nail art.

Maybe a talk on hand hygine, bones (funny names!!!)

Anything else you can think of that would keep them interested. Maybe some of you pamper party girls might have a few more ideas?

Thanks

Bit of info for the nail biters - there are more germs under their nails than in the loo.

I used to say this to my nieces - that stopped the finger half way to the mouth:green:

ooh love it! thanks!!
They have recently upped the anti-bac hand gel use (entering the building) due to Swine Flu and i think they would benefit from some child-like reasoning as to why hygine is important.

Oooh, get them to draw round their hands, and design a nail on each finger? Or just give them a photocopy of a hand to do it on? Do a little storyboard about "Mr Nail" and what he likes/what he doesn't like?

God, I'm an actual geek (and not just a Salon one!)

This is exactly what I do at my youth clubs, it goes down a treat even with older ones lol

I totally agree!I did a manicure class for my sister's junior models (5-12 yr old) I went a step further and explained a little bit about diseases like Hepatitis A & B. I explained to them how "poo particles" can get caught under their nails - stopped a few biters!

I was going to say that could stamp their nails - they love that, I'v got the konad ones which I use sometimes at kids parties, they are really fast to apply and the girls love the designs but then I got to thinking - is it a mix of boys and girls you are going to be talking to?

I once took a few differently scented hand creams to a kids talk, and then asked them to guess what each smell was.................i.e. almond, mint, coconut etc.
I also gave them a bit of handscrub to try out. This got them washing their hands and feeling the difference. ( This only works if you've got a sink in the room !!!!!)
