Morning,

I think there's 1 or 2 others.

I'm in South Lincs, about 30 miles away from you.

Morning Bev,
Ive just been looking at your website, your nails are lovely!!! Whats the difference between GEL and ACRYLIC Bev? Im due to do a GEL NAIL course in 4 weeks, which Im really looking forward, so Im trying to get as much information about nails as possible, before the start of my course. If you ever need a NAIL MODEL, let me know I would be more than happy to help!!

Hi,

Well....gel, L&P, fibreglass etc are all basically acrylic based products.

L&P, or also known as acrylic is a liquid - monomer & a powder - polymer, the brush is dipped into the liquid, then the powder to collect a 'bead', this starts the polymerization process (setting), and the product is applied to the nails to create the enhancement. No need to cure using a UV lamp.

gel is a 'pre-mixed' type of product and therefore gel like in appearance, it is applied with a brush to create the enhancement, in layers, which need curing under a UV light to harden.

I'm not a gel person as you can tell, but if you have a search about there is most likely lots of info.

Minkus did a tutorial on Gel, which would be worth you having a look at, as there are different types - some soak off, other need filing off.

There are lots of good books you should get too...

Nailclass - by Gigi Rouse
The Complete Nail Technician - Marian Newman
Nail Structure & Product Chemistry - Doug Schoon (I need this too!)

Thanks for the offer of being a model - that's always 'handy' to know - excuse the pun x

& Thanks for saying my nails are lovely xx
