I have a new client, I have done a full set and one rebalance on her so far. During the consultation she told me she has had a lot of trouble with lifting in the past, her nails seem to peel off in one go after a few days. She has been to a few nail technicians, with the same result.

I used retention+ with cnd primer over natural performance tips on her. She called a few days later, saying one nail had broken off. She came in, it was snapped of at the stress area, I repaired the nail for her. At her rebalance there was only the tiniest bit of lifting on one nail, but one more had been snapped off at the stress area. I made them a bit thicker than normal, hoping to solve the problem, other than that it was an easy rebalance with no other problems.

Today I got a call from her, two more have snapped off, stress area again. She was doing a bit of gardening over the weekend, but says the nail snapped quite easily by her cleaning the underside of it with her other nail.

I'm thinking of trying her on radical liquid, but I'm really worried about the lifting problems she has had in the past. I'm not sure what to do, does anyone have any suggestions for me. I don't want to lose her as a client, she is a great client, so I need to get this sorted for her.

Thanks

Are you building your apex enough?
Usually, when clients experience breaks like that it's due to zone 2 not being strong enough. If she's heavy handed then using Radical can help, I would use primer with it to help combat her lifting issues too.

Prep really thoroughly, 2 nails at a time if needs be, do a super prep by using Scrubfresh, Nail Fresh, then Scrubfresh again, when thoroughly dry apply primer and off you go :wink2:

Thanks Sandi, I didn't think to try using nailfresh as well with the radical liquid. I was a bit worried that her nails would lift if I use radical, as she's told me about her previous lifting problems. I'll give it a go and see how her nails go.

When she had her first breakage I assumed that I hadn't built the apex enough, so I built it up more at her rebalance, this hasn't stopped the problem though. I'm not sure whether I am building up the apexes enough though, I don't know what the ideal is.

ETA: Would you soak off and re-apply with radical or just change liquid at the next rebalance? I've never had to change liquids when the client still has the nails intact.

You'll be fine to rebalance with Radical :D

Are her nails a tad too long for her lifestyle? Just wondering if shortening them a little would help.

Hi

Sandi is right i had the same problem with one off my clients breaking at the stree area. she liked her nails very long advise to shorten them a bit and this seemed to have help.. good luck xx

Her nails could be a bit too long, they're not excessively long though. I'll do her repairs on Friday with radical, then change to radical at the next appointment. I'll try to convince her to have them a bit shorter, but probably won't be successful.

Thanks for the help, I'll see how her nails go this week:)
