To any of you hair pros out there. My friends daughter has recently started a hair apprenticeship in a salon but the owners have told her she also has to do nails!! She isn't qualified but they already have her doing nails in salon on paying customers at a reduced rate. How can this be right considering
A) she isn't qualified
B) she should be spending her working hours doing hair.
Any info on this would be greatly appreciated

Is she doing any hairdressing training?
If she's only just started, there's a limit to what she can do apart from cleaning, washing hair and watching the qualified staff work so it might be that they're trying to keep her more usefully occupied for a few hours.

How does she feel about this?

Is the apprenticeship entirely with the salon or in partnership with a local college?

If it's a placement and she's unhappy with how its going, then suggest she speaks to her tutor about it.
