If anyone has experience of starting a massage business from home I would really like some advice,
I currently work mobile but all private clients are in london (i have moved to milton keynes & travel is draining)

My questions are
How long does it usually take to start getting enough business to live off?
Is it worth advertising on google? (100£pm)
Would it be worth gaining some beauty qualifications and which ones are most popular?
any input would be greatly appreciated xx

I currently have a licence in holistic, sports, deep tissue, lymphatic drainage, aromatherapy, indian head massage, hot stone, aromatherapy and facials. 3 years experience.

Hi,
I think you have more than enough qualifications to focus your business on.
Google adwords is not the most effective way to get more clients in the beginning, £100 is quite a lot of money per month.
Have you done some research in your area to find out who your customers are and what they are looking for?

Adwords only works with a fantastic website geared towards visitor conversion. We can provide a free SEO & website audit if required, just drop me a PM :)

Hey Lanny89. I would advise that you specialise in one area. You know what they say... jack of all trades, master of none. I found this really helped me to set up in 2011. SEO is a real mind field. However I have found some simple things that have worked for me. You could always visit my website www.increaselashclients.com
I set up my website last year, after speaking to lots of people that were in the same position as yourself. It has lots of tutorials, hints, tips and a facebook group that runs along side it.
I hope your dreams come true and feel free to message me in the future :)

I totally agree with this. Google is fab, but your website has got to be spot on to attract clients in.

I think googles great, there's nothing else quite like it. That client is seeking your services!

Adwords is an expensive way to start, but it's also a good place to start. I would trial the £100 for 1 month and see if you're happy with the number of customers it brings.

You then need to work on optimising your site so it naturally appears in one of the top 3 spots in Google. This takes time. That's why it's good to start with the £100 then look to decrease that over time.

Adwords isn't a cheap way to bring clients in, so you should look at other forms of advertising too. It's hard to say, but for £100 I'd hope to get 4-6 clients a month.

I also think it's better to specialise. I love my massages and never book myself into a beauty salon for one. I always seek out people who purely do massage.
