New Salon - any official checks?

Hi I am in the process of setting up a new salon at the moment and just wondering if anyone knows if you have to notify the local council/other officials and have any checks e.g. health and safety before you open? Or can I just simply open up and start trading?
So much to think about my head hurts! :cry:

You should contact the Environmental department at your local council & they will come & visit you to go through everything.
