I never been good at painting nails. I’m going try take some extra courses.

I’m hoping to focus more on massage and become self employed. Would it be weird if I offered full manicure and pedicures with no colour so full treatment maybe an extra long massage or offer them both together as one treatment but only offer clear nail polishes.

Hi
Most of my clients have always wanted a colour painted onto their nails so I would say you won’t get many clients if you put on clear polish only I’m afraid. It’s a skill but one that can be learned, practice is key. Colleges teach you how to do this and you also get clients into the college salon who allow you to train on them.
As for massage it’s very hard in the body, you probably wouldn’t want to massage for longer than 1 hour for a full body or 30 minutes for a back, neck and shoulder.
good luck

Yes it would be weird to only offer clear polish. Clients will think that very strange. Few clients book luxury manicures without polish. They come because a therapist paints nails better than they can.
There are plenty of salons that just offer gel polish. Perhaps if you trained in this you would find applying colour easier as you can correct little errors before curing?

Alternatively don’t advertise nails at all and go down the route of being a specialist in facials and body treatments?

Yes you need to offer colour to your clients nail treatments. They will expect it.
Refresher courses will help , but you may just be making very simple errors of not loading enough polish onto the brush and over thinning the end colour. The colour can then be quite patchy, or stripey.

A few tips that I abide with :-

Shake the bottle well and wipe the brush off on one side so that you have a good drop to use.
Let it float onto the nail and that may help give a non stripey look. Start at the lunula and do one gentle smooth stroke towards the free edge, and then add the side wall strokes.
Easier to do with a brush that is quite flat to the nail if you understand me.

Shimmers and pearly shades are easier to apply than creme shades.
Store the bottles upright and always clean the rim after use to minimise any hard crusty bits that may enter back into the bottle.

Hope that helps.
