I have had a problem with three of my nails for some time now. I recently looked up nail problems and think i have onycholysis. I used to have acrylic nails and also been through a series of tetracyclines for troubled skin.
The doctors have not been very helpful and because of the state of them and my vanity i have continued to have bio gel put on them. When i have them soaked off they are very painful.

Should i still be having my nails done or will i be aggrevating the problem?
Also does solar gel work for this conditon. I am trying to keep them short and out of water as advised. Does anyone think a referral to a specialist would help, they have become really painful now.
Thanks

It's a shame that the doctors aren't better at diagnosing and assisting with nail conditons. I've seen some one client lately who's GP wrongly diagnosed Onycholysis as a Fungal infection....the difficulty I, a mere nail tech, had getting her to understand that I actually knew what i was talking about and the GP wrong.

Your profile doesn't show much....I'm assuming you are a consumer and not a tech? My best advice is to go find a highly trained tech in your town....Bio Sculpture gel is very good, but in the wrong hands, its not going to do any nail condition any good. Try giving them (Bio Sculpture) a call and asking for an A grade referral or one or the other bigger name suppliers such as CND.

This article will also give you an idea of what you should be looking for your tech to do, but in short, keep it short, keep it clean, don't poke it and avoid any trauma. A simple overlay is the most you should be having on....and if the condition doesn't get better fairly soon. get yourself referred to a Dermatologist.
