Hey :)
I'd love to own my own salon , well rent , I'm qualified in tanning , acrylics , waxing & hair extensions , I'm not busy Infact lucky I have 1 client a month , 4 children so really want to make a better future for them & I absolutely despise being on benefits
Anyway , how do I go about doing this ?
I'm in Scotland ...
I know I need to find a good location
I will be applying for a start up loan so I can get essentials for inside
Do I need like a licence from the council to operate as a beauty salon ?
I'm quite thick when it comes to things like this , wasn't the best in maths but have my partner to help me with the numbers
I will be employing qualified beauticians aswell

Basically any advice is appreciated , no harsh comments as I do take them personally with my anxiety [emoji85][emoji23]

Hi hun,

Well done for getting qualified and wanting a better life for your kids

Please don't try to run before you can walk. I think right now you need to focus on mastering marketing and building a client base. When you have a solid income from beauty, that'll be the time to think about opening a salon.

A lot of beauty salons close, you will need to know how to market your salon to bring clients in. There's some great threads on here about how to get more clients.

I'm actually in Edinburgh now, so if you're ever in the area I'm happy to share a coffe to pick my brains. I've moved a few times due to partners job and had to rebuild client base and had my own salon in past. Plan to open a salon when we move again as Edinburgh's temporary.

Good luck xx

Yes this won't be until next year anyway , saving for my wedding [emoji30][emoji23] and will give me plenty time to build up more clients .

That would be fab actually I'm in Livingston but would ideally open up shop in Edinburgh as it seems busier

Hiya
I love your enthusiasm! However I'd try and build up a client base at home or mobile first. Then st least if you're not working, you're not paying overheads. I know salons that are really pretty busy but still don't make a great deal.

Oh btw I was crap at maths but ok at the basics and do my own book work

I work from home so don't have any salon advice but good luck if you decide to go for it x

I'm only 20 minutes away from you and have a home salon and it's taken me a year to build up clientele and be busy.
The last month has been fully booked however my diary is looking quieter again now holidays are over.
I'd agree with the advice already given and build up a client base first.

I agree, perhaps look into renting a room first, before jumping head first into the commitment and expense of opening a salon and employing staff etc. (Employing people can be a whole minefield of extra admin work in itself!)

Thanks :)
Going to see a salon for a nail tech position on Saturday :)

Ooh good luck!
