Need to replace my old vented tumble dryer and been looking at the condenser one's. Does anyone rate them. Any information on them would be appreciated..xx

Yes I've got a silver 'Beko' one out of the Littlewoods, it's fab, quite big, with an opaque door so you can't see the stuff going around as it dries, which I prefer. A light comes inside when you open the door. It senses when the clothes are dry and turns off automatically. You just empty the water tank when it's full (which is dead easy, it's like the liquid draw of a washing machine). The best thing is you can put it where you like, we've got a big one, but my mum has got one of those little 4kg ones in her cupboard under the boiler, out of sight!

I have the Hotpoint Aquarius, the same as my washing machine... It does everything but make the tea. All you have to do is empty the water tank, which is located where the powder draw is on the washer.
No nasty vents to worry about, and no filling up the kitchen with steam..brilliant.

I've got a condenser and it's very good. I've never had a conventionally vented drier so I cant comapre them, but I can say that I've had this drier nearly 4 years and never had a problem with it. However, I have heard that condensers use far more electricity than conventional ones so that might be something to consider.

I used to have a conventional dryer before this one, and I cant really tell in my electric bills, I use mine a lot as I am in a flat and there isnt a good drying area here, nearly all my washing goes in the dryer....x

I have a condenser and I think it's fine. Apart from having to empty the water every so often but thats no trouble. It dries my clothes well so thats what I want from it!

No, condensers should use less electricity than conventional tumble driers.

A conventional tumble drier just heats up the contents of the drier and shoves all the moisture in the clothes (and all the heat) straight out of the tube at the end - usually into the great outdoors!

Whereas a condenser tumble drier doesn't have a big tube down which all the heat goes - I think the way that it works is that it condenses the water out and then tries to re-use the heat...

However, the condenser driers in combined washer/dryers have never seemed to work as well as our conventional Bosch tumble drier (which we've had for 11 years now)!

I'd agree with what Ruth says about the combined ones. I've had both, and the combined one was pretty rubbish, although this was qute a few years ago, so they may have gotten better. I've got a condenser one now and I really like it.

Ah, I see! Well to be honest I cant say I've noticed my electic bills being extortionate (well, they are, but that's got more to do with the money grabbing electric company:lol:), and my drier is on every day.

Have to agree with Ruth and Marion about combined washer/driers, they provide nothing but problems and repair bills, dont touch 'em!
