Need to replace my old vented tumble dryer and been looking at the condenser one's. Does anyone rate them. Any information on them would be appreciated..xx
I used to have a conventional dryer before this one, and I cant really tell in my electric bills, I use mine a lot as I am in a flat and there isnt a good drying area here, nearly all my washing goes in the dryer....xI've got a condenser and it's very good. I've never had a conventionally vented drier so I cant comapre them, but I can say that I've had this drier nearly 4 years and never had a problem with it. However, I have heard that condensers use far more electricity than conventional ones so that might be something to consider.

No, condensers should use less electricity than conventional tumble driers.
A conventional tumble drier just heats up the contents of the drier and shoves all the moisture in the clothes (and all the heat) straight out of the tube at the end - usually into the great outdoors!
Whereas a condenser tumble drier doesn't have a big tube down which all the heat goes - I think the way that it works is that it condenses the water out and then tries to re-use the heat...
However, the condenser driers in combined washer/dryers have never seemed to work as well as our conventional Bosch tumble drier (which we've had for 11 years now)!
