Pale Skin

Hi i have just done a St tropez tanning course at college and one of my homework questions asks why pale skin would develop quicker than dark and olive skins. i know this might seem obvious (because obviously the skin in paler so you would see the results sooner) but how do i answer this questions

I'd love to do your homework for you, but I don't think the other geeks would forgive me! We all had to learn the hard way, by getting a few answers wrong along the way, and I hate to say it, but it's the best way.
