Hi all,

I need your honest advise or opinions on which to use. In other words, I need to know which is more beneficial to clients and on the other hand, which is more economical as well. At the moment, for my luxury manicure and pedicure, I include a parafin wax treatment and I use the brush it on method but I am getting fed up of it now so in a way, I'm looking for an alternative. I have heard about hot oil treatment but I don't exactly know what it is and I have never used it before. So my question is
(1) Should I carry on with using my parafin wax which is a bit messy or
(2) If you are recommending hot oil treatment, which brand would you suggest I go for and why.
Many thanks for all your contributions.:)

Hi

Have you thought about thermal mittens? Very beneficial especially at this time of year, really simple to do. I use these and got a good bargain from HOF beauty - think it was 39 quid for both feet and hands

hi we are using both of these treatments at college but you dont usually use them both together, the treatments i usually do are:

exfoliate, warm oil and wrap the hand in clingfilm and then place in warm mitts for 10-15 mins, then massage in any remainder of the oil then use a moisturising cream

OR

Exfoliate/paraffin wax and then moisturise and massage

Or you can also using a hand mask for a treatment hope this help

Ooopps forgot to say you can buy warm oil from sallys or dennis williams and its really simple to use you can heat it in a small bowl and put that small bowl in a big bowl of hot water for 30 secs or so or you can buy a warm oil heater which keeps the oil at a constant temperature it looks a bit like a baby bottle warmer or a baby food heater!!

I just haven't understood the purpose of brushing on paraffin wax. It has been proven that the wax encapsulates the hand so quickly that no baceria can get into the wax and if their hands are clean what difference does it make anyway. I have my clients exfoliate, we apply lotion and they dip in the wax, I wrap in a plastic bag and slip them in oven mitts. This way you are not wasting as much wax and it is hassle free. I am not familiar with the hot oil treatment.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my question---I'm so grateful for all your thoughts. To oldgaltherapist, I'm loving the idea of the heated mitts and booties especially for this winter months. Please could you PM me if you could on your routine when using the mitts and booties. And to vicky09, I love your idea of hot oil so please can you tell me what brand you use?
Many thanks to all.:)

We were taught hot oil and paraffin wax treatments at college but the most economical method is def heated booties and mitts.Which you can get from Sally's and other whole salers at a very reasonable price.

Basically you would, cleanse hands, apply oil therapy(we use Nailtiques in our salon)then cuticle cream then rub hand cream into the hands, place into freezer bags then into mitts for 5 mins.(make sure the mitts are already at desired temperature)Once time has elapsed, remove one hand and massage arm and hand then place into mani dish to soak, then remove other hand from mitt and massage then place that hand into same bowl that other one has been taken from,( make sure you dry hand thoroughly with flannel or hand towe that has been removedl). Then continue with usual manicure routine.

Its an excellent luxury or remedial treatment. With the feet we use cling film to wrap before placing into booties.HTH
