Hi,
can anyone tell me how you patch test for an eyelash extension treatment? I use cluster individual lashes and have been advised by 1 therapist that i dont need to test the glue on the client and that you DO need to test the glue by another therapist. At college i was always told to patch test first and so i know it is very important to patch test first but how do you do it? Would you still patch test behind the ear or on the inner elbow? I know you can get a general idea as to whether they are allergic to the glue by these methods but surely it's different once it's on the eye area. Some clients can get very sensitive to the vapours of the glue and this wouldn't be detected with a regular patch test would it?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks xXx

Stick to what you have been told at college. Patch test behind the ear or in the crook of the arm. If clients dnt react to the patch test it is very rare it is going to hapen once on the eyes. Let the glue go tacky for a while before putting them on , this way the vapours wont be so strong. Be sure to give your client aftercare advice, so what to do if a reaction did occur etc.
Make sure they sign a decleration to say the patch test was fine and also aftercare was given. This way you have covered your back.
I have had a few clients that have had an allergy to the glue on the patch test but all my clients eyes have been fine with a negative patch test .
Well done for checking it out first hun

Thanks for the advice - i must admit i dont leave the glue to go tacky before it goes on; i was always told to act quickly with the glue before it dries too much and therefore is unable to adhere to the lashes. However, i have given this a try and it is much better to use and doesn't seem as irritating to the clients' eyes.

thanks again for the advice...xXx:)
