HI, I am looking to get a card machine for my salon - the info on this site has been very helpful; but do I need PCI? The one company I contacted said I need this, which will cost another £5 per month?
Is it necessary or not?

I pay £30 per year for PCI, so quite a lot cheaper than you've been quoted!

Who do you rent your card machine from Vicki?

I'm with Hand E Pay. I pay £17.99 per month rental and then for transactions. They are run through Streamline. I have to do PCI compliance which is a pain every year, and worse this year as I run my card machine through the internet rather than the phone line now!

I assume everybody has to do it!
