My nail desk is right at the front window in the salon, the owner would like me to do manicures and pedicures at my desk too whilst she works in the only treatment room. I dont mind doing this but feel that this is too open for clients. Does anyone have any ideas how I could sit in the front but still offer this service but make it abit more private at the same time? Im planning on promoting gel toes soon but dont want to put clients off sitting out the front.

Any ideas please?

hi,

I think doing manicures is fine in the reception area,it actually acts as a good advert but pedicures are another matter.

A lot of ladies dont like to show their feet, and it wouldn't be a very relaxing treatment having a therapist massage your legs whilst being viewed.

Maybe get a bi fold partition,I saw some nice ones I think it was Ellisons, somebody mentioned IKEA do some nice ones, this way you could screen your client, just giving her/him a bit of privacy.HTH

I totally agree with you and think the bi-fold screen is a great idea! :)

Me three i think you should get a bi fold partician aslong as you have the space. You can get some really nice ones. Good luck xx

As a bit of an exibitionist it would bother me personally (as long as i had got my legs waxed recently) :o however I do understand there are many clients who do not like to have pedicures in front of other people let alone in front of a shop window with passes by going passed. I think the bi-fold divider gives privacy and can also be an advantage for you enabling you to display advertising in the window such as images of work or current offers and on the side the client sees something pretty and relaxing to make a good atmosphere.

Hope this helps.

I agree with the above. When I worked for Nails Inc in Debenhams alot of customers asked where we did the pedicures. When we told them "right here", most would say they wouldn't have it done there. We always turned them round so they're not facing the public, but we did lose alot of clients because they wanted a more private space. We did still get clients, but mostly for gel toes rather than full pedicures, I just don't think people found it relaxing at all.

I think the bifold thing is great, and like said above, would be brilliant to put some of your advertising or posters on.
