I have been in a private pension scheme since i was about 23 i only pay in about £25 a month so its not really ever going to be worth much, but as a couple, as my husband is in the police force he will get a very good pension so ive never been too worried.

Ive never been employed long enough to have the amount of contributions needed to qualify for full government pension unless i top up.
Im not really sure how it all works.

With many of you self employed on here what do you do about pension schemes or do you just not really think about it at the mo.If you are employed do you still save hard or have taken out a private one as well.
It is something to think seriously about as the government says that in future there will be so many oaps that they will not be able to provide much.

I was a pensions administrator for 7 years before this, and although I am a complete hipocrite and don't have a pension I do think that you should continue. I stopped my pension for numerous reasons, and at the moment do not earn anything to put into one, but as soon as I do, I will set one up. It is important that you save for the future as no-one knows what will happen. In my case I'm just relying on my partner at the moment which is really bad, and not advisable. Honestly it might not be much your putting away, and will get back but it is better than nothing.
