It's a shame perming isn't still included in basic hairdressing training, I loved perming I found it so relaxing! It really is worth knowing how to do it properly as you never know when you will need to use the skill. It's not just about putting rollers in, there's a science to it as in any chemical service. As others have said it is not just for the elderly client either, my most common perm is spiral wind on 20+ year olds 😄
