I've been doing nails for quite sometime now and have really admired the white tips that are created with white powder instead of a glue on tip, and then a complementing flesh tone behind the white for the client. But I seem to be struggling with the 'see through' of the acrylic. For example, if I have a client that wants a very long tip, with a deep smile that actually goes above her natural nail , I still have a problem with being able to see the natural nail underneath. When I see CND, EZ Flow, and a few others I know the sculpted white tip smile extends beyone the clients natural nail, but how do they get the perfect powder that won't dull the white but covers the natural nail underneath so you can see it though the pink part? I hope I've explained this well enough. I have tried, and been sadly unsucsessful lol. I have a few clients that have very short nautral nail beds and to place the white smile along their natural smile makes them look so squished and silly. Thanks for any help!

If i get what you mean properly, then i think you need to use an opaque pink powder for the nail bed. You have to be careful not to brush the pink over your white free edge or it will dull the white out.

I usually just pat the pink up to the smile line and then stroke it over gently to blend the white and pink together. If you do end up with a very thin bit of pink on the white free edge, it just files off when you file or buff the nail smooth when finishing.

I'm still training so hopefully the experts will be along at some point to help you out better but hopefully this helps a bit until then

Thanks! The system I work with doesnt offer but one color of pink, so maybe I need to use a different brand of powder to do these correctly then. I really like the look of the EZ flow colors and they seem to cover the natural nails very very well, I can never see them underneath in any of the pictures.

You can mix your own i think. From what i've read adding white powder to your pinks makes them more opaque (less see-through!) but i know lots of companies now do the opaque colours. CND certainly do as does NSI and NFU.oh do a big range of coverage powders. Although i'm not sure about EZ-flow, i'm sure as a big product supplier, they will too.

tammy taylor.... pinkest pink and whitest white. love it!

CND is actually the first company that ever made coverage powders and the company who introduced the whole concept of the Custom Blended Manicure.

CND now make 3 beautiful coverage powders all premixed for you to compliment warm and cool skin tones as well as a neutral powder that looks lovely on everyone.

I have seen many coverage powders from other companies and they all look flat and fake to me whereas the CND powders have a beautiful translucent look although covering perfectly any imperfections.
