hi i am in desperate need of some good advice from all you wonderfull nail techs out there. i have been a qualified nail tech using creative nail products for over 10 years, i have always been self-employed and worked out of either a hairdressers or most recently i rented a room in a beauty salon so i have always had an instant clientel.

Now here is my dilema, due to getting married and moving to a new county with my hubbie i am having to start again from scratch, i have decided to work from home but i need your advice on how to start getting clients, can anyone out there suggest the best way to advertise, i have done leaflet drops before but did not get a great response. PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP ME

I work from home too and as you have no 'shop window' it can be hard to attract clients.

I advertise in my local papers, I have asked businesses to display my price lists (hairdressers etc) and done a leaflet drop in my immediate vicinity.

I do think it depends on the area you are in though, there is a lot of competition in my town so I have to advertise a lot to attract new clients. HTH

I always say, "go where the women are".

You have to really put yourself out there if you want people to get to know where you are. You have to be prepared to do some full sets for people whose hands will get noticed and ask them to recommend you.

Go into the shops like bridal shops and florists and the supermarket and leave your cards everywhere and in every women's loo you go into. (I always used to stick my cards on the mirrors or the back of the loo doors). Never leave you house without a pocket full of your cards.

These are all ideas that worked for me.

I used to do a couple of the check out girls in the supermarkets and got no end of new clients by them recommending me as people said ... I love your nails .... they would hand them one of my cards.

Bridal shops were also a good source of clients. Even handing out cards to other mums at the kids schools. Notice boards ... I once put a card on the notice board of our local fish and chip shop and got several enquiries from that!! Thing is if you always have cards with you, then when you see these opportunities you can take advantage of them. Good luck.
