Polish on L&P enhancements

I'm not up on ordinary polish as I use Shellac on natural nails and acrylics but I have brought a gorgeous OPI polish (you only live twice) I have read somewhere polish shouldn't chip if applied to L&P enhancements firstly is this true and secondly what should I apply as a base to the polish ( currently I finish enhance ta with glaze and go) any tips gratefully recieved x
