:cry:I have been doing gel nail extensions for about a year now and most clients have been really happy. But I have had a couple of clients who come back as some have come off and the others are beginning to lift, this can happen less than a week of being applied. I don't really know why this would be happening as I use the same technique everytime. Is it possible that it can depend on the clients nails? Any theories would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Lisa

hi...what gel are you using..?

Hi love!

Really hard to help without knowing what system you are using and your prep routine.

I have a few clients that gel will not bond to - no matter what I do. They are now happy l&p wearers (and vice versa). Not every product works well with every client. I have one client who can only wear fiberglass wraps - it took some trial and error - but I persevered!

Good luck

If you could describe your preparation and aplication we could probably help. You also could find the toturial section usefull (specially on prep, it has changed my life)
Also, there are always some clients that are prone for breakdown. Either pickers, nail bitters, poor aftercare habits, etc. As long these are the exception and not the rule it is normal to be that way...

I'm using star nails sculture gel, it's not self levelling. To prepare the nail I remove all cuticle from the nail plate and file down any length from the nail and then with the file take the shine off the nail.

May i ask how many clients do you have, and with how many does this problem occour?

It has happened to about 4 clients. I'm not too sure how many clients I have had for nails as I am a beauty therapist too, so see lots of clients. I have had quite a few in the year that i've been doing it for.

We all have some clients who's nails are more difficult/challenging to do, some are flat, fanned, dry, excessive cuticle etc. Ensure that you take extra care with your preparation:
make sure that all cuticle/non living tissue is removed,
remove shine and make sure that you double check the cuticle line and the sidewall lines,
then make sure the nail plate is clean and dehydrated and free of dust before enhancing, a contaminated nail plate blocks proper adhesion

The most common cause of lifting is insufficient/incorrect preparation. Proper preparation of the natural nail prevents problems and is vital for achieving optimum results.

Thanks everyone, I'll try to improve my nail prep to see if thats the problem. :)
