Problems sculpting.....:(

Hi everyone , well i had ago at sculpting, with gel and OMG i douldn't believe how hard it was!! the smile line was not a proble but getting the gel to stay smooth was anightmare. It was so uneven. I know this is orob down to my application so can anyone give me any tips or hints on best way to apply sculpting gel. I use NSI balance gel and it is so thick also are there course sin sculpting or is it somwthing that you just pick up sorry for babbaling thanks guys xx
