hi there, im looking for a good makeup range to use for clients which isnt going to break the bank, as im mobile ive only done two brides but more people are starting to ask about makieovers do you stock every foundation range??

i use art deco for my clients and also looked at barbara bort. both excellent ranges and you can give them a budget etc and they can help you to put together a great kit with lots of choice. you can try before you buy too!

I use Barbara Bort, and I am mobile. They've got no minimum order and a huge range - they also do a great mobile kit bag that looks great and you can fill with your choice of products. Sparkle Cosmetics sell the range so check them out. I manage to retail a fair bit too, especially as you don't have to order masses in advance.

Artdeco may suit you. No minimums, single products, specially discounted makeup student kits for starting your business. Professional makeup actually used on Television and Magazine shoots every day.

I suggest you dont stick to one brand my kit is full of different makes from Mac to Barry M! Are you aware that MAC and Bobbi brown screenface and smashbox offer discounts to makeup artists also one of the best foundations that is used alot in the industry is Revlons colourstay and photogenic foundation is a snip of the price it wont break your bank they have loads of shades and if your just starting out is great to fill up your kit and get you started .x

how do you go about getting discount off MAC, Bobbi Brown and Smash Box. Im a beauty therapist and make up artist with my own business and use mac and bobbi brown that i bought ages ago but need to replace some stuff and also get some new stuff.

gO ONTO THIER WEBSITE AND IT SHOULD GIVE YOU A CONTACT E-MAIL E-MAIL THEM AND ASK FOR AN APPLICATION FORM.
BOBBI BROWN CARD CAN BE USED IN SELFRIDGES AND MAC YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE PRO SHOPS SCREENFACE YOU CAN ORDER ON-LINE OR IF YOU ARE IN LONDON CAN VISIT THE SHOP IN COVENT GARDEN SMASHBOX I THINK ONLY DO DISCOUNT NOW IN AMARICA.SPACE NK WERE CONCIDERING OFFERING A DISCOUNT BUT IVE NOT HEARD AS OF YET IF ITS POSSIBLE WITH THEM.

I use mac and have a pro account costs £25 for the year but gives you 30% off. You can also order over phone u dnt have to visit pro store. Daniel sandler offer free membership and I believe give 25% off. I love mac, and bobbi brown, ysl, chanel for foundations. Don't stock every colour do every other colour and I have 2 ranges the select spf and mineral, also chanel for pro lummiere and matt lummier, or u can go for mac face and body foundation and they have a white and dark bottle so you just get a few shades and add lighter or darker just wldnt recommend for oilyer skin types as gives a dewy finish. I would buy your eyebrow pencils and lipliners from cheaper companys like rimmel, maybelline etc as it rly makes no difference for those, I think same goes with lipglosses too! Bobbi brown do a great pro pallette with foundations and concealers of all colours so good to starty off with! Xhi there, im looking for a good makeup range to use for clients which isnt going to break the bank, as im mobile ive only done two brides but more people are starting to ask about makieovers do you stock every foundation range??

I agree with getting liners from cheaper range but for glosses the cheaper ones i find can be quite drying on the lips and dont last as well as the more expensive ones. Make up is a case of try everything and remember everybodies skin is different what suits one may not another ! Spend a day going round counters get some samples try what they have and see whats out there!

This is one of the myths in the makeup industry. In todays market there are professionally based based brands that offer high pigmentation, blendability and long-lasting products.

Our makeup artists have full kits from one brand and work in television, advertising, catwalk and editorial. Salon based makeup artistes can create all the looks and be completely on-trend for all skin types with one branded kit.

Why pay retail less 30% when you can pay salon direct prices and save over 50% against retail.

For example we sell a product from the same factory as touche eclat, sold at 22.50 in the shops. Ours retail at 14.50, meaning professionals can buy the product at 7.50. We give 100% money back if you think it is inferior in any way. for example.

Other professionally based brands will have similar pricing.

People get sucked up by massive advertising campaigns, high street is not the answer.

Would you buy nail products from Boots or Debenhams if you only got a 30% discount?

There are lots of professional brands coming on the market, try them.

I can't think of anything worse when I see make-up kits based on 76 different brands because the artiste couldn't afford to stock their kit from one high street retail company. Same as being a CND nail tech but then mixing in other brands.

If your working in a salon or doing a wedding, a professional looking kit sets the right image. Of course the proviso is that the products can create the professional look and stay on with vivid colouration all day.

Rant finished for the day...

Arghhhhh!! I'm currently trying to figure out where to even start my make up kit and have absolutely NO idea!!!! Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have about 40 shades of foundation in my kit!!! Now Daniel Sandler has launched a new one 'Waterbase Foundation with Concealer' in very simple light, medium and dark. I'll be using it at Pro Beauty Stand D10/C11!!!

It took time to get my kit together but just buy what you need when you need it!

What would suggest as the basics to look for first? How do you decide how many colours/shades to carry?
