I occasionally work adhoc for a small salon over the road from me, just doing gel polish applications on nails. There is just the owner and she books me in when she can't do it herself. Also, I think because she doesn't have much of a gel polish range herself.

She advertises the service as Shellac on her price list. She calls me her specialist shellac technician. It's driving me insane, I've never used Shellac! I use Nubar Gelicure and Ink Lomdon iLac! I've told her time and time again to stop doing it and to please advise clients I don't use Shellac. The clients don't seem to care, they think everything is Shellac- because of people like her who misinform them!

It's seriously driving me nuts. Not to mention she only gives me a tenner per service (she charges them £15, but I don't pay rent). She asked me if I could polish her l&p client the other day with just lacquer. I had to wait for her to be done, paint the client etc and was give an extra £2 for my trouble! She had me come in for a client at 2, without telling me she was booked in for a full enhancement soak off, so I had to sit and wait 40 odd minutes. Her prices are cheap and her work is poor, she uses tips and just clear pink l&p, the tips are so badly blended that I had to steer a client away from the sheer nude she wanted as it would have looked awful. She's critical of things I say- a girl told me she had enhancements done at another salon and lost 2 nails within 3 days. I said "3 days!? Didn't you go back and say something?" And then I got a sneaky txt from her telling me not to say anything, clients moan, etc and they didn't look bad for 2 weeks- she wasn't listening obviously. That's just one example. She txt me at midnight once because she'd had a web booking for the next day. Really takes the P! I'm only there for a bit of salon experience. I have salon experience doing hair but not nails. Plus the salon environment helps me speed up my times.

Luckily I don't go in much, but if I get one more txt asking if I can come do a "Shellac" I'm gonna scream!

*ahem* sorry for the huge rant!

I think I would be always 'busy' when asked to do some work for her!

Eek!!!!!:eek: If I were you I would stop working for her IMMEDIATELY!! You don't want your name associated with her or her salon if that's the way she runs her business and is providing poor service when you're trying tp build a name and reputation. I know you want to get salon experience but that is the wrongggg kind of experience. Run girl, RUN! lol:p

Haha so so true. She asked me to come in laat Saturday (last min notice as usual) but I already had plans thankfully.

I doubt the clients even know my name tbh lol! Unfortunately our cat has just cost us 1k in vet bills, so I can't afford to turn down even a tenner atm. I'm hoping in a few months I will be able to use it as experience if I go for any interviews. You know how they all say "minimum 6 month salon experience" or whatever. I'm trying to think of it as a stepping stone, building my confidence and my times.

On the plus side, it does make me want to learn l&p! If only to provide a brilliant service for this area, something that's apparently lacking!
