hi everyone

doing my first rebalancing tonight on overlays. very, very, very nervous, do not know the lady that well. just read geegs tutorial on rebalancing and it says you don't have to file ALL the product off. my training says that you do. what do you all do?

I file away any lifting and thin down the apex area and the area above so that a new apex can be put in the correct place,
you follow the advise in geegs book and you wont go far wrong

So you don't file all the product off?

can i ask who you are training with?
a rebalance is to buff the prodcut all over and blend the seam at zone 3.you the apply new prodcut to the growth area and the apex etc.. to re structure the nail again as the apex would have moved up the nail.this does depend on how long it has been sice there last appointment as they may not have that much re growth.
the only time you would file alot of the prodcut of was if you were re doing your smile lines with the white because if you didnt the nails would end up being really thick.

So you don't file all the product off?
No i don't, this would not be a rebalance it would be a new set every time and cost you more in products and time hth

you only remove what you have too...whats the point in removing whats fine just to replace it...??

Don't make hard work for yourself....take down the length....thin the free edge....thin the apex (if needed) remove any lifting and buff over zone 3 (this should already be thin).

I agree, follow Geeg's tutorial and only remove what you need to. This is the way I do it too. Hope it goes ok, I remember doing my first rebalance and how nervous I was

I'm sure you'll be fine xx

You surely don't remove all the product...I bet many nailtechs would reconsider their job if they would have to redo everything again every time ;)

Like the others mentioned...just take of what is needed to move your apex back + length and lifting if present. Then you just fill up what is needed.

Hope this is not a silly question but dont you get product breakdown if you leave too much old product on?

If your product has been placed properly and you are using a quality product i would say no. I always do my rebalance in this fashion and never had any problems to be honest.
