Reverse charges scam

I've just had an automated phone call from someone sounding like BT, saying its a 0800 reverse number call from Gemma (a fellow geek) and that I was to press a button to accept. It also had what sounded like her saying her own name.

I put the phone down and immediately rang Gemma on her mobile, panicking as had visions of her stuck at the side of the road somewhere.

As Gemma reminded me, she doesn't know my home number so how could it be her, and no, it wasn't her.

So, was this a scam?

I had a relly weird call this morning, the phone rang and i missed it cos of getting the kids ready for school, i did 1471 and it said it was a payphone and i thought it was someone i knew trying to get hold of me and they were stuck, recalled and it was a load of music and a recording saying to hold the line, not impressedx
