About as far South as you can get!
Does it mean anything if I have ridges just on my big toenails?

Just giving myself a bit of a mini pedi and noticed them for the first time. Not on any of my other nails (not that I have much of a little toenail - more of a TINY lump of nail )

Just wondering really, nothing else to notice, doesn't hurt, not bumped them, etc.

Thanks

Sarah. x

Most people have ridges on their big toe nails hun,
you can gently buff them smooth, as the toe nail is thicker than the finger nail,
i always buff mine smooth then apply my enamel hth

Oh :o

Thanks hun (feel a bit silly now!) I'll do that now, thanks

Please don't feel silly hun,
it would only be silly if you didn't ask, as you would not know then

Hi
furrows can run eigther horizontally, lengthways or vertically across the nail plate.Ridges that run lengthways are normal and can increase with age.Ridges that run across the nail plate could be caused by illness, trauma or poor circulation.hth.

If you have only just noticed them, then it could also be down to wearing new shoes/trainers in the last few months. When you wear a new pair of shoes they are quite tight fitting until you have worn them in and pressure could be applied to the nail pushing it back causing the ridge to form in the matrix. As with running, the constant pressure put on the toes can cause damage to the point of losing a nail. That's why I never run....well not unless the police are chasing me.
