Hey guys, I'm just wondering what you all do to stay safe when you go out to a new male clients house? My friend actually got felt up by a male client whilst doing a FBM and it has just got me thinking!! If that kinda thing happens in salon I'd be shocked about what could happen mobile! Christine

That's awful, i hope she reported it!!
I never do male clients mobile, i've had so many men texting me and pretending to be a female client so i always make sure i physically speak to a client before i go to their house. I would also let someone know where you are going and tell them how long you expect to be there, then they can give you a call to check you're back and ok. It's such a shame there are some weirdo's out there because it does make you super paranoid when turning up at somebody's house...

Yeah the salon she works for reported it! What do you say to a guy if he rings looking a treatment done then? I'm just curious as I don't wanna come across as cheeky. I do think it's best that I stick to ladies then, my mum actually suggested that I bring an 'assistant' with me, one if my sisters I'm sure wouldn't mind doing that!

This is a real problem and one that has been talked about at length on here before.I used to do mobile but I had it printed on my leaflets and price lists that I didn't do men.I would do regular clients male friends or their male family, but I had to know the regular client very well before I would book the male in as I needed to feel 100% safe.

In the salon that I work in,we never do men when working on our own unless we know their family, wives etc or they are regulars. It's just too risky. It's such a shame and to be quite honest you could get a women who could be just as dangerous.

I would say NEVER do a male if alone. It's just not worth taking the risk.I did have some security compnay ring me once, years ago, asking me if I did male clients and how would I feel about doing them if I had a security alarm on me that I could use if threatened :green:I told them that I still wouldn't because by the time the security company or police got to me I could be dead or seriously injured so I saw that as a total waste of time tbh.Just stay safe.

ps if a guy rings up asking for a treatment just tell him politely that unfortunately you only do female clients and maybe recommend he go to a local salon.hth

Hi
I only do treatments for men on the partners of existing lady clients. xx

I just politely tell them that i only treat female clients, it is written on my leaflets too, but as I said I have had a few phonecalls by the same number, they put the phone down when i answer, then text me and tell me to text back only as they're driving, (they obviously dont want me to hear they have a male voice)but they gave me 2 different female names from the same phone so obviously it was a bit suspicious then. Then i got missed calls at midnight and was asked to describe the routine in detail particularly "when you do ****s"!!!! I text back and told them i was no longer available for massage and to kindly not contact me again!! I can laugh now but I have to be honest it shook me up at the time!
Dont feel that you have to treat men, you dont and if you are feeling nervous about it then i would say definitely dont. Make sure you speak to your client even if its just to confirm the apt and then make sure someone knows where you are...

Your absolutely right! If I felt iffy about someone by talking to them on the phone I would make any excuse not to book them in.. Has anyone here had any bad experiences whilst being mobile?

I've only ever had one "uncomfortable" experience while working mobile, and it was about this time last year. I spoke to this lady on the phone, and she told me she didn't live in the area, but she rented a flat here to work from during the week...didn't think twice about it at the time, and booked her in for a spray tan.

Went to see her, and the flat turned out to be a horrible place, a big old house split up into about 15 studio flats, paint peeling off the walls, smashed windows etc. I rang her to let her know I was there (doorbell was hanging off the wall!!), and she let me in. The most horrible place I've ever been to, the hallways smelled of urine and cigarrettes, there was a couple having a blazing row in one of the rooms etc. When I got into her room I realised what sort of business she ran....she was a "massage therapist"!!! Talk about giving us lot a bad name!!!! The room was boiling hot, dirty, obviously hadn't been hoovered ever...her massage couch was set up (beautifully, actually!), next to a double bed with dirty sheets which hadn't been made...there was an ancient telly sitting on a fridge in the corner of the room...and the whole thing had a really dodgy feel about it.

Needless to say, I did her spray tan and got out of there quickly!!! She did rebook for a few treatments but cancelled them the following week...thank God!!

As a client she was fine, she was a nice enough lady, but the situation made me feel very uncomfortable, especially as I had no idea who else was in the building too. I don't advertise that I treat male clients because I would never want to be put in a worse situation. However, I do treat males if I know their partner/wife/sister etc, and if they've been recommended to me.

On a general safety note, I always tell my partner where I'm going (leave him the address at home if it's a new client), and what sort of time to expect me home. I also usually call him when I'm on my way home.

Grrrrrr, this makes me so mad! Why do creeps like this think that they have the right to force their sick thoughts onto complete (uninterested) strangers! How desperate are they??
xx

When I get to a clients house, I tell them I just have to text my partner to tell them that I have arrived so they know what time I should be walking out the door. Then the client knows that you have notified someone of your whereabouts.

Put the fear into her why don't you!!!!! not doing male clients is alienating a lot of work, sorry if you partner does not like it.

You can get felt up by a female as well, just as much in modern times.

Search old post for the advice there is lots of it on this subject, lots! I am not pushing you away, its just that there is more on old posts than I and others can write in just this one thread.
