I'm adding makeup to my salon and would like to retail the products that will be used.

What makeup lines would you recommend?

I use Priori Coffeeberry Natureceuticals after facials, clients love it, I also use Vitage Colour Minerals, there is also Jane Iredale All these products are minerals and are good for skin as well as giving fantastic coverage and longevity ...there is also Mii which is great too :)

I've only just seen your reply now.

Thank you for replying I'll look into all of these now.

Thanks again I really appreciate it xx

I use Jane Iredale. It's a mineral/skin care makeup and is amazing! Sells itself. Plus the support from the iiaa is second to none! x

I asked the very same question last year.

I then invested £4000+ in Artdeco...which went down the pan in the UK.

I spent money heavily advertising this brand and pushing its ethics, promo material ect.

Never will I invest in a brand like this again!!! When it was no longer available in the U.K. I found myself with £3000 worth of products that I couldn't re order, sell or promote. I ended up selling my stock for £600!!! Luckily the lady only wanted products for her kit. I then had to go out and buy thousands of pounds worth of new products. I decided to use different products from different brands.

Iv also retrained several times as I realised that brand training doesn't really teach you how to be a makeup artist but how to use their products.

I honestly would advise you to invest in a specific brand, especially with makeup!

12 months on and the difference between me and other salons in my area is that they do makeup and I'm a makeup artist. There's a massive difference! Iv since become a preferred supplier for a huge hotel chain & been featured on several occasions on high end Instagram & FB pages.

This never happened when I used Artdeco.

Hope this helps xx

As said iiaa is exceptional in its support as is Skinbrands who distribute Priori, Susan Posnick & Vitage Colour Minerals ... By no means as expensive as you have paid before! Think a basic for Jane I is £500 ... Good luck :))

Had a similar experience as LaurenSparkles, but with an american brand. I was getting weekly calls asking if I wanted to order new stock, which should have warned me something was wrong! Absolutely no support. Mineral makeup though, my goodness that does well!

I think it all depends on why you want to stock make up.

I'm the other way round to @LaurenSparkles. I had a mixed kit when my emphasis was make up. I did a lot of weddings and photographic make up using a cherry picked selection.

Fast forward a few years and I have a salon that I want to retail make up in but I also want it to be flexible enough to use successfully for bridal. I invested in ji a very long time ago and have never looked at another make up brand. We retail a lot but we are now a skin specialist salon so people travel to us for skin and make up advice.

Jane Iredales opening order has increased from the £500 that it was but still very much worth it x

Wow lots of information thank you all.

Lauren sparkles that's awful I'm so sorry to hear that. If I'm honest I was worried about something like that happening. It's great to hear you've turned such a negative thing into a positive though :)

I'm going to look at Jane iredale now. Lots of good reviews. I'm looking for a brand that we can retail not just use on clients xx

We started 8 years ago with Mineraologie a make-up brand linked with our skincare Jan Marini & although it performed well coverage wise post certain treatments & doing wedding make-ups we sold next to no products in salon. Fast forward 6 years & we invested in Youngblood mineral make-up again linked in with our new skincare Dermaquest & it flies out!!! We sold more in the first month with this than we did in 6years with our old brand! The colour choice is varied & they bring out new colours/products to move with trends. There is so much choice in products too, literally something to suit everyone in both look or texture. We all love working with it & it stays on like you would not believe, looking just as incredible hours & hours after you first applied it. Support from Dermapure is excellent & the training is great.

Gluten free!? Does this matter if your not eating it!? [emoji23]

Our skin is our largest organ - it matters what we put on to it just as much as what we put into the body, as contents do get absorbed into the body! Alot of people don't really think about that though. I don't know about anyone else but I won't put anything on to my body that I wouldn't put in it.

I use & stock jane Iredale - although the the products really are fab and they do make up events (there is now a min spend for these) I've not had the best customer service from them with regards their MUA's constantly leaving the company and events been cancelled and no area rep for months - they didn't even bother to let me know. Luckily I worked for a luxury brand so I can sell products easily and I do believe in the jane Iredale brand & ethos xx

Omg this has happened to me lost thousands after investing in Art Deco that you can no longer get hold of in the UK!!

Nikki Art Deco is available in the UK now but another company has taken over distribution - Chleo Enterprises based in Ireland. Although even if you were previously a stockist you still have to do an opening order again. X

They sell Art Deco in Debenhams over here.
They sell Youngblood in the local chemist in my small town.

(They sell Sleek in the local beauty wholesalers...)

In our clinic we use Youngblood, it is beautiful mineral make up. It is ground finer than bare minerals and so sits really nice on the skin. It doesn't clog the skin and feels great!

I am finding this thread interesting. I use a variety of products. Now i am wondering should i invest in one product line?

I have young blood and my ladies love it
