I googled the name and address as I thought that the English was very poor and found out that this 'Nick Brown' is a scammer from Ghana.

This was my reply:-

"Hi there Nick or whatever your real name is, Mr Man from Ghana.

Thank you for your email.

I won't even bother giving you any details of our products and payment methods as it is quite obvious that you are a scammer. So please don't insult my intelligence in trying to scam me.

And you might want to brush up on your English a bit, thats the part that gave you away."

Stay alert everyone, there are some really evil people out there

Personally I wouldn't have even replied to him. As replying to him is showing that there's a person there, which makes your email address more valuable to him (and any other scammers he sells your email address to) rather than an email address where someone hasn't replied.

Thanks for the heads up though :)

sorry if I sound dumb...Why does he sound like a scammer? yes he could be foreign and from Ghana but how does that make him a scammer? Do people sell email addresses to get bank details off customers? Just out of interest x x

Without being racist, it's well known that a large number of email scams originate from Nigeria, Ghana and other West African countries, e.g. Advance-fee fraud - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So I would generally be very wary when receiving such emails, especially if unsolicited - and especially if not relating to a product that you actually sell or advertise.

So if you receive an email "out of the blue" like this, relating to something or someone that you have previously had no dealings with, then the chances are that it's a scam...

Cheers Ruth it's good to be aware of these things, I think it's a bit racist to assume their from west africa tho, but that prob me just defending my ethnic backround as I am half nigerian. I will have a look at your link x x

Ah, I was only saying that because of what Olly had said about "Hi there Nick or whatever your real name is, Mr Man from Ghana."

I've definitely got nothing against West Africans though... my niece is married to a Nigerian man and you would be hard pressed to find a nicer person.
