I have been approached by a couple of schools to participate in their pamper events and I was just wondering if anyone thinks its worth someone's while? Prices are from £5 per 15 mins session. I asked them how many nail technicians and beauty therapists they have got coming but the schools told me the event is very popular and they tend to get a lot of people.
I was also wondering if you can advise on best treatments to offer on the day and what to expect as I have never attended any. I have a beauty room and I offer services such as gel enhancements, manicures, pedicures, minx, waxing, threading and eye treatments.
Many thanks in advance if any suggestions, advises or contributions.

Just bumping it up---anyone please.

hi. i am not trained yet so cant realy offer advice from the pro's side, but as a PTA chair, i can offer advice from my side.
i would sugest you offer the small treatments, not a full set or hours long massage, maybee mani/pedi, french mani, waxing but the quicker ones like eyebrows. Threading, im not sure how long this usually takes, but im sure it will be very popular.
also ask the school how they go about the evening, do they book peoples treatments in advance or do they pick on the night, this would be a biggy as you can plan you evening if you are booked in advance but if your playing it by ear, you would have dificulty knowing what to take ect.
also check the areas they are providing, do they expect you to all be in a hall, or will they offer classrooms for more privacy for certain treatments.
what about rent, do they expect you to pay for the privalage of being there or is it all based on what treatments you sell.
power points, make sure you got enough, lighting, time to set up before event starts, and providing a "menu" so people know whats available and at what price.
also make sure you have plenty of leflets/business cards with you on the night but check the school will let you have them, and have your app book so people can book in for other treatments on future dates.
basically talk to the school, if they have run and event like this before they will have a way they do it, other wise if they havnt it might need a bit of input from the pros
HTH and good luck xxx

Thanks aangel, you have given me such an invaluable advise based on a PTA point of view. I've been told it's the PTA that organises such pamper events in schools so you are a professional in your own field. I'll be contacting them to speak to them further on the points you made. The rent is a certain amount of money paid to secure a stall / place for the night but she said they do get a lot of attendees. I still welcome any suggestions or comments.

awwwwwwwwwww, thanks thats made my day!!!!! xxxxx:hug:

i have done events like this before and threading is a great crowd gatherer as eveyone loves to see how it is done and it gives great results. Also costs you almost next to nothing to do. if you make sure you have lots of your cards/leaflet out you may attract new clients and from there get them in having more profitable treatments at your salon like massage/facials etc. £20 per hour may sound good but you will probly have to give a percentage of this back to the school so just make sure it is worth your while. Getting your name out there and people meeting you and seeing your work is always a good thing though. Check the amount of hours you will be doing and definatly try and get them to pre-book people so you wont be wasting time at the event doing this and then everyone who wants a turn will get one.

I did one last weekend. Just offered file & polish or mini mani to keep treatments times to a minimum, offered them at cheaper rates than I would normally charge as a special 'Xmas Treat Price', and I didn't stop all night!

I also gained bookings for future manis, and pedis for people going to Xmas time weddings, and 2 or 3 of the ladies I treated are coming to the next one I am doing in 2 weeks to see me again - great result!

I paid a nominal fee for the stand which went to the school, and the rest was mine to keep on the night - fill your boots x

I would avoid massage at all costs- I have done this and really regretted it as it is a lot of hard work for nothing!

Others advise is good. I would get people to pay you upfront to book a time slot for their treatment if pre-booking before the event is not possible. You're going to be knackered but hopefully you will get some bookings out of it. I would do polishing nails or brow threading as suggested but make it clear it is a tidy not a full reshape for the time in case you get some hairy monsters! I would book out 25 min slots with 20 minutes of it being treatment time there is always time wasted and it will give you a chance to talk to people coming over to your stand but still get the job done. I would be inclined to charge £10 a slot minimum.

For the kids you could do nail art on two fingers/thumbs or minx two fingers/thumbs for a few £s and this would only take a few moments.

Thank you all for your contribution, I'll let you know how it went. I'm going on one on friday with a friend that has invited me along so fingers crossed.:)

i find these events great have done a few in the past i was only offering file n paints on hands n feet and eyebrow waxes, i got quite a few further bookings from this n made a great profit.
the last one i did i was there 2n half hours only doing eyebrows for £5 n made £115 n only had pay £12 for my place for the night.

like the girls have said make sure you take plenty of your leaflets with you so u can let them know everything else u do and your prices etc n even if u only get one new client out of it thats better then nothing.
Good Luck
