I am about to start a desk rental job in a local salon. The owner does nails too and therefore has a price list which i have to use. At the moment if she does french nails she uses white tips only, I can do white with acrylic and gel, would it be ok for me to say i would like to offer these at a higher price? I dont want to charge the same as the white tips as they do take me 30 mins longer but like doing them and would like to offer this too.

Dont want to do anything out of place before i even start lol, I was thinking of taking in my photo album so i could show customers the difference types of nails i can offer with the relevant pricing attached.

If you were a salon owner would you be ok if your new tech suggested this?

Thanks x

Desk rental job.
Does this mean you're renting space in a salon?

If you're doing this, you can do what you like including invent your own prices and bringing in your own book. If you are employed then you do what the owner tells you and that means leaving the book and your prices at home.

Am self employed, but owner would like me to use the same pricing as she does nails too. I just am able to offer some different services to what she does and want to include these but chose my pricing accordingly.

HI

You can but ask!

As a salon owner I like my staff to have an input in the pricing of services. I think if you take your book in and discuss your ideas with her she will be receptive.

As a salon owner if I rent desks to contractors they determine their own prices and services.
As they are self employed, I cannot enforce what I want upon them unless I wish to make them my employees.
The salon owner you are with needs to be very careful in this regard because Revenue could view her practice as that of an employee and treat her accordingly.

Listen honey - you must value what you do and if it takes 30 minutes longer than white tips - just adjust your pricing accordingly - talk first and explain what you plan to do - it should not be a problem - you are offering a first class service and should expect your pricing to reflect that. Good Luck xx
