Hi Guys

Ages since i've been on here as I have been pretty busy. The mobile extensions are going well and I have a a few regular clients now as well as the one offs.

I have one regular lady though whose hair is a bit of a headache (for both of us) I have fitted (not all at the same time) pre bonds, shrinkies and micro rings in her hair but she always suffers from bad slippage and loses a fair few too.

We have looked at all ways of remedying the problem, less shampoo, washing in cool water, drying hair naturally etc...but I am at a bit of a loss now.

She currently has a head of keratin lined shrinkies put in early Jan, I did a maintenance last Mon and she had lost a lot and had bad slippage mostly round the sides so I took about 3 hrs replacing and tidying up (she seems to shed a quite a bit of her own hair naturally which causes a fair bit of matting at the roots).

She has text this evening to ask for an appt tomorrow as they are slipping again, she hasn't replied as yet so I don't know whether she is meaning the ones fitted last week.

Has anyone got any ideas of other things to try. She does have naturally dark and quite oily hair, is this the problem? I don't want to fob her off with a 'its your hair type' answer if something else can be done. At the other end of the scale I have clients who go the whole 3 months and barely lose a bond (usually dyed blonde- I suspect hair is drier therefore bonds better)

She uses (as far as i can be sure) proper extension S&C as supplied by me so this shouldn't be the problem and we have had loads of conversations about keeping heat away and careful brushing (only thing is though she is a nurse and has to wear her hair up a lot but can't avoid that- she is trying to tie it so the sides are not tight.

Sorry for the long post but I feel bad that this is costing her so much in maintenance - she spends more in maintenance than the original full head cost.

Thanks

i had this problem with a client who is a policewoman first time she had slippage quite early by 3 weeks she had lost quite abit with the micro rings. i spoke to my supplier who suggested sillicone lined ones. i used these and she now has no probelm with it but still has some slipping round the sides and middle were her helmet rubs but now shes fine...

not sure what to suggest as youve checked her shampoo and conditioner, youve tried more then one method in her hair..
hopefully someone else comes along who may know something more or something theve tried..if your ok with your other clients it obviously not your application...

One the the key things i would to do before applying shrinkies when i was doing these years ago was to pre wash the hair to a almost straw like feeling with very strong almost stripping type of shampoo.
This helps to take away any oils or coating ,build up on the hair that might induced the slippage with shrinks.
The shrinkies have adhesive inside the shrinks and if this adhesive bonds to oil or coating it will be only a matter of time that they will come out.
this goes also for bonded systems.
Its a little cumbersome to pre wash your client i know but some time the prep is more important as than actual job itself

There is a oil remover that you can get to use immediately prior to application. I can't for the life of me remember what brand it was but from what i remember it came as a dab-applicator which you apply directly to the roots.
Perhaps one of our other hair geeks knows it. I haven't used it for a while but used to keep one in stock for slippage-problem clients and it worked a treat.

I'll repost when i hunt it down.

you can also use the shampoo used before you perform keratin hair straightening such as global keratin.

very deep cleansing

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. I will try some of the stuff you recommend. I suspect the problem is a combination of oily hair and wearing it it up a lot.

But hey a challenge is always good
