Just wondering if I could pick your brains for some advice.

It's been terribly hot here (not sure if that has anything to do with it, I get it every now and again) and I've developed tiny little pimple-like lumps, some have heads, some not. I believe it's called 'milia'? Or something of the sort.

What's it caused by, and what can I do to treat/prevent them? They're actually quite sore.

I'm currently using Dermalogica skin care products, however I'm wondering whether they aren't caused by my make up... I'm using 2 types of foundation, one being a mineral makeup (which is free of the nastys) and every now and again, I use 'Pure Makeup' by Maybelline (which I know probably isn't the best, but it's hard finding something nice and sheer in the right colour). Sometimes, I'll also use my MAC powder.

No idea if you needed to know all that, but just in case :p :green: lol, I'm a dork.

Any help would be much appreciated :)

When you get these pimple like heads how long do they last for? Are they little and hard and how have you been getting rid of them? Milia tend to be white little pea type spots that are hard and difficult to get rid of with normal skin care products (recommend you seek professional advice if they are milia).

Are they sore because of you messing with them or do they come through sore? My experience with Milia (which it doesnt sounds like to me) is they are not sore.

Hmm, I don't think it's prickly heat simply because it isn't a rash, it's like pimples but without the head. (sorry, I was told it could be milia, I'm not a skincare expert, if you can't already tell :p)

They feel sore to touch, when they're just little lumps. If I do squeeze them, some white (whatever it is) stuff comes out.

Thanks for your replies though! :) Who would've thought I'd get help so quickly :D We have a wonderful group of people here.

>>> ER! Also, I forgot to mention that they're actually on my chin area. I don't seem to get them anywhere else.

I would recommend going to a skin care specialist to get a consultation so the spots can be seen at first hand and diagnosed properly. But I feel they are more whiteheads than milia.

Thanks for that :) I'll have to when I have the money... or I could just ask one of the girls at work (although one of them told me it was milia :-s).

Thankyou so much for your advice :)

When the white bits come out of your skin are they like a little tiny hard pea or are they soft? Plus, the chin is an unusual place to get Milia (although possible), it is normally around the eye/forehead in my experience.

I was told by a beautician when having a facial that I have milia. I have lots of little bumps on my cheeks, no redness and have tried to squeeze them (not recommended!!) which just leaves scars. My beautician said I would need to have them lanced and then squeezed as they are not like blackheads, they are covered over with a build up of skin. My worry about this is would it not also leave scars? Would microdermabrasion help maybe, sorry Im not beauty trained so cant advise but am interested in replies.

Milia need to be removed professionally, and some therapists will do this as part of a facial. I don't think all therapists get trained to do this anymore (depends on the training, lol) but I would seek out an 'old school' beauty therapist and specifically ask if they can remove milia.

They can also be removed by advanced electrolysis.
