Just a quick question regarding tips and the different types for different nails.

I'm new to the nail industry and am completely bamboozled as to which tips to buy. I've asked which are the best tips that would suit most clients, and the response I seemed to get was the CND Velocity tips.

When starting out, how many different types of tips should I buy? I'm not CND trained.

Thanks guys!

The reason CND tips are so popular is because they are so suitable for most all nail shapes and so quick to blend. They are the tops.

If you are wanting a well-less no blend tip then CND Performance tips (same shape as Velocity) are the ones.

Nails with deep side walls need CND Eclipse tips (these nails are rare so you don't need a big box of them .. but by gum they are the bomb when you do).

Then comes colour .. do you want clear, natural, or white?? Most CND tips are available in all 3. There are plenty of cheaper tips, but there are no better tips. The material is superb, the colour is totally stable and the quality control is the best.

It makes no difference if you are CND trained or not, you can certainly buy CND tips and all other CND products (apart from the L&P or gel) if you register with Sweet Squared (the home of CND UK) and send them a copy of your training certificate as proof of training.

Easiest thing is to call (08452106060) and speak to one of the girls in Eduacation/Sales and set up an account with them ... then buying on line is easy after that.

If you wanted a recommendation as to just one tip to start with if you are using L&P? I'd go for CND Velocity natural .. gorgeous shape ... super fast blending and you can do French with your powder. Good luck

That's great advice, thanks Geeg! I'm registered with Sweet Squared already so will getting the Velocity tips today! Can't wait to try them to see the difference! :)

I am new to nails too, but the velocity tips are fantastic and so easy to blend, I would definatly recommend them.

I love, love, love CND's Performance tips. Simply, the best tips I've ever used. :)

Hi guys, my Velocity tips turned up today and I'm gonna try them on myself over the weekend (hopefully!). I did some tips on mum yesterday and discovered she has really flat nails - which I've never noticed until now! And I wasn't happy applying regular tips to them coz of possible pinching and most definate lifting, plus I was worried that I may damage her natural nail.

The Velocity tips have a deep C curve and I'm wondering which tips I should now buy for ladies who have flat nails? Are there any that you peeps would recommend?

I also bought a bottle of Nail Fresh coz I've heard that it's awesome and an Easy Soak bath from CND for removals. Used the Easy soak tonight, and is easier than wrapping each finger in foil, but I did seem to use a lot of Acetone so not sure if I've made a good move here or not! Haven't tried the Nail Fresh yet, it's on my weekend list of 'To Do's!'

Your time costs a hell of allot more than Acetone which is cheap.

Do you not charge for a soak off? Surely that pays for your acetone about ten times over plus your time.

If the Easy soak saves you time then it saves you money. Crumbs the tin foil and the time to wrap each finger costs more than some Acetone. Work it out.

Yep I will charge for soak off, but coz I'm that new to nails, am just practising on friends and family. I haven't had a paying customer yet who is due for a new set. Am hoping to get leaflets out in the next 2 weeks! (I used the easy soak on my mum and didn't charge her - I'm just grateful for the practise!). Mum and sis-in-law are the only 2 I havn't charged coz I realsie I have to cover costs!

Is there a tip that you recommend for flat nails?

Velocity tips should do perfectly well on flatter nails .... they are very flexible.

Performance well-less tips also will flatten out very well.

Formation are the flattest tips CND make ... you will need to trim the wells as they are a full well tip.
