Hi all,

I am totally new to this site and stumbled upon it when researching the above the on the internet. I am praying someone can help me.

About 4 weeks ago i started to get spots on my chin. As you do i messed with them, trying to get rid of them the best way i knew ( squeeze and kill ) but this really has made a real mess on my chin. I started to use Freedern spot control gel but didnt help at all. I have tried using just water in the mornings and nothing else ( didnt work ) i am now using Decleor Aroma cleanse programme and have been since last Tuesday. I have noticed a slight difference in my overall skin and a tad on my chin but i seem to have alot of under skin pimples only visable in some lights. I have some scaring left from the spots and redness around them. What do i do now ?
I have heard that pure Vitamin E Oil is good for facial scars and so is Lavender oil.

Please help me get my perfect skin back with no pimples redness or scars. :(

What would you all recommed.

I have just normal skin.

I use Quinoderm if I get spots, my mum used it when she was young and it's the only thing I find works for me. It can sometimes dry your skin a little so I mix it with some moisturiser. You can get it over the counter at boots. x

Hi Hun.

Thanks for your reply.

Does this help with scars aswell ?

Don't think it will help much with the scarring tbh :( im not too sure what would be best for that, but would recommend quinoderm for pimples! X

Your skin will be entering its next 28 day cycle.
Treat it gently but thoroughly, ie water on its own will not be enough to cleanse it, plus it is alkaline and your skin is naturally more acidic.
Decleor is a great brand. I think it's too early to talk about scarring, but if it has occurred then Decleor Prolagene gel will help.
Are you using an exfoliator? If not, I strongly advise it....but the best you can afford, not a broken-up nut kernel one.
Finally. Don't pick! (But we all do, don't we?:o)

I am actually thinking you should go to your doctor.

If you go and tell him what is happening to your skin and that it is starting to scar he should give you something to help with the problem.

I am not disrespecting treatments or products from a therapist but sometimes you actually need medical intervention.

Over the counter products usually contain such a teeny amount of the active ingredient that it hardly helps at all.

May I suggest that you tell your doctor you have tried some of these to no avail.

I hope you get something sorted soon.

As always, excellent advice from Jacquelineanna.
Would add that if you're with a big GP practice one of the docs may specialise in skin, so book with them.

I have exactly the same problem PoppyRose! And I have tried EVERYTHING. I think I will take this advice too and see my doctor as I have had this breakout on my chin (due to an allergic reaction to Olay products - wont be using them again!) for about 3 months and it is getting me down. Didn't think to see the doctor so thanks guys I am going to make an appointment xxx

Just a bit of advice too, sometimes docters do prescribe very harsh medication when its only a small problem and the meds can leave other problems and affects your whole body and organs not just the chin area. I would suggest going to have facial where a thorough exfoliation and extractions are done. Once the therapist has analysed your skin and done a thorough consultation card then they can suggest what caused and how to proceed. Good luck :)

It is my opinion that facials are not generally going to clear up skin that has spots which cause scarring.

Doctors will always start you on the lowest and mildest medication to treat any condition.

And if the reason for recurring spots is internal any amount of facials will not solve the problem.

I would always advise clients with recurring spots, especially younger ones, to go to the doctor first in order to prevent scarring or reduce the amount of future scarring.

Hi everyone!

I've been having kind of the same problems, but mine extend to the jawline. :(

Jacki, do you think medication can help? I've always been afraid of having acne medication and becoming "a slave" to them, but as I've become a slave to facials (every 2 months, otherwise my skin might go crazy from day to night!) i might as well give it a chance.

The thing is: I'm Brazilian and I've seen a dermatologist about a year and a half ago, and she said that she couldn't classify me as an 'acne sufferer' because she suspected my spots came from PMS related symptoms (I suspected it and told her that). Therefore she didn't recommend me medication, and instead the facials... Hence my big doubt...

Anyway, seriously considering talking to my GP now. Thanks!

Did you tell the dermatologist what you suspected first or did she tell you and you then agreed?

I definately think you should go to your GP.

I would personally put my trust in medicating this problem rather than 'treating' it with facials.

You need to find a new dermatologist! If you have so much as one blackhead or spot you are considered to have grade 1 acne. Acne means an over production of oil. If this is happening once an month it is related to PMS so the pill may help to regulate your hormones at that time.

A few helpful tips;

Under no circumstances should you EVER squeeze spots, you basically start the process all over again.

Always double cleanse in the morning and in the evening.

Exfoliation is key to ensuring pores done get 'clogged'. Also ensure you are using an exfoliant that DOES NOT HAVE GRAIN as this can spread infection. Use an AHA based exfoliant instead.

Use a clean facecloth (or equivelant) each time you cleanse. Never leave a wet facecloth and come back to it later. It will be infested with bacteria.

Use an Oil free moisturizer. I know many people with breakouts are afraid to moisturize but it is vital to protect your skin against bacteria, pollution etc.

Always wear an SPF as breakout trama to the skin can cause hyper pigmentation.

Hope this helps  xxx
