I read on a thread a little while ago that I can't find now that one of the geeks offers a tantastic thursday (or something like that), where the spray tans are £15 instead of £20.

I think that this is a great idea and I was going to do something similar. The prices in my area for spray's are £25-35. I have been working mobile now for a couple of months but am now renting a room in a saon, which I'm sure is the right move for me. But I'm really keen to get this off teh ground asap. I am currently charging £25 for a full body what do you guys think about the offer though, is £15 right or would you aim a little higher.

Also I have looked at the threads relating to promoting, which I have either already got in place or am about to do but have you got any idea's of how to promote this?

I live in a university city so I was hoping to capture that market too. I've been in touch with the student advertising board but everything seems very expensive. Any suggestions?:p

I started spray tanning last week at the moment i have an introductory offer for £15 usual price is £20 i will run this for a month

I started spray tanning last September, and almost from the outset the end of the week has always been my busiest, and I'm fully booked every single Thursday and Friday night. Following some fabulous business advice from fellow Geeks, I (a) did an introductory offer of £15 for ONE month only, and stuck to it, raising the price to £20 from October thereon, and (b) I never, ever have any kind of offer on on Thursdays or Fridays, as they're the busiest days anyway and there's just no need.

I also now know that I won't be doing any kind of money-off promotions in December, as I believe that everyone who came to me last December/Christmas would've booked me anyway, regardless of any discount.

What I'm trying to say, I guess, is that if you want to promote a particular day of the week, perhaps make it a Tuesday or Wednesday where you might otherwise be quiet.

From this September, I too will be charging £25 for a single tan. I may do double appointments for £20 each - perhaps you could do this as an offer for your Uni market?

Hope that helps
xx

Hi sunspray how do you market yourself, is it word of mouth, or do you do leaflets? x

My biggest bringer-in of new business at the moment is most definitely word of mouth, but I'm also listed on the following:

www.netmums.com (Noticeboard and Household Help)
www.freeindex.co.uk
www.facebook.com (create a business group)

There are SO many ways to market yourself, it can take a lot of time and doesn't necessarily have to cost a fortune.

Good luck x

I've had another bright idea. I currently work Mon - Wed evenings and Fridays and Saturdays. So I can see that Fridays and Saturdays should be my busy days anyway. So what do you guys think about £17.50 full body on Mon-Wed evenings?
