We all have hair in various places but what is the function of hair and how does it differ depending on the area ??? :green:

ie we have eyebrows - what does that do
we have hairs up our nose - what do they do?

etc etc come on geeky ones let me know :wink2: xxxxx

I believe the eyebrows and lashes are to protect debris particles going in the eyes and the nasal hairs are for men to think they are virile LOL.

Seriously I think the nasal hairs are to filter out debris when we breathe through our noses.

Body hair is there to offer protection and for insulation (amongst other things)

well heres my chance to test my college knowledge

eyebrows , prevent things such as sweat from entering the eye area , and cushion the brow !

eyelashes , prevent debris and forien particles from entering the eye .
and protects slightly from the suns rays

nasal hair and ear hair, again protects the nose from foriegn particles

lip hair ,helps prevents sweat ect, from getting on to the lips

head hair , helps to keep us warm and block out the suns rays

body hair helps to protect from the sun and the cold , insulating us slightly !

the hair found on a feotus etc..is a very fine but protective hair called LANUGO

The fine hair found on the face and body is VELLUS hair

the longer coarser hairs , such as pubic hair , are called TERMINAL hair

Nothing much I can add except for the nasal hair which is there to help prevent bacteria and virus - along with the debris entering into the body oh and to catch the sn................................. :lol:

my nasal hairs dont catch mine ..it flys off everwhere , thats why i have to pinch my nose when i sneeze :green: (which btw , everyone tells me i shouldnt do , because my eyes will pop out )
