Do any of you have a handbook for your staff? I'm just thinking this may help me iron out any creases within the salon to get everything down in writing as in what I expect from my staff.

I don't mean to copy, I just mean do you think it is effective? I thought it would help, also if things go to plan over the next year we should have a few more staff so in years to come it could prove handy. :)

I think it would be an excellent idea.In our last salon we had a list of what was expected but a handbook sounds much better.I also think it's important to have regular appraisals. My friend has a professional company write up the appraisal notes, which I used for our staff and it was very good as it asked how they thought they were doing, what they felt their pitfalls were etc, then you went back in however long you both agree on and the process starts again. It's better than going in there blind when issues arise and really helps give you backup as it's all there in black and white.HTH

I will try and email you a copy if you pm me your email address. I had mine written by peninsula.
