Unfortunatley not...you can however get higher output lamps..have a look at uvlogistics.co.uk there the UV lamp specolists that could reccomend possibly a higher UV output lamp to tyhe one you may currently be using
HTH

I can't quite believe that people are still offering sunbeds! Not to mention the risk of skin cancers they cause premature ageing of the skin.

She has a point. When you're having an excision of a basal cell carcinoma you'll be wishing you'd listened to her!
Why not find a decent spray tanner?

That's going to be more confusing and harder a task than you think.:eek::hug:

I am going to stand up for sun bed's though right now...well to a certain point anyways .

The PROPER use of sun bed's is without a doubt beneficial to the user....incorrect used however...(which is what is happening today with the consumers stupidity and the manufacturers ever willingness to feed that stupidity)...extremely harmful and poses many down line problem issues for the user/provider.

One glass of red wine is good for you...a whole bottle ain't...its time more regulations were placed on salons offering this service as well as a lot more funding to "educate " the consumer...like the quit smoking adverts etc etc

Sorry, but I dont agree - and i might be trapping into a hornets nest here - but as with everything.........in the right dosage it can actually do you good!!!

Drink a glass of red wine and it will do your liver and heart the world of good................drink a bottle and you are damaging your body!!!
The same goes for suntanning..........all those that go on holiday and pop onto the beach at 9am and dont leave there till 6pm dont need to worry the least about sunbeds because they will to a lot less damage than what they have done all day staying in the sun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The same applies to sunbeds: if you stay in the recommended time and dosage for your skin type you are fine and can gain all the benefits doctors reap about...however if you insist on going onto a 200w sunbed for 20 mins you are a fool and it will do you harm just like drinking too much alcohol, driving too fast or any other stupid thing will do....soooooooo think in dosage and respect the recommendations and everyone - ie you and your clients will benefit!!!

Depends on how much skin cancer your clients want

Steady now - there are people who think that it's ok to use them!

Why do you think that sray tan is better then suneds? Can you garantee me than your spray contents only healthy igredients and does not harm my skin?

No, but I can guarantee that overuse of sunbeds will damage your skin and your health!

UVR is not the only cause of skin cancer. Many things contribute to skin cancer including chemical exposure and genetics.

The most exposure from UVR, absorbed during a persons lifetime, is going to be from the sun and not sunbeds.

There's an old saying... "A little of what you fancy does you no harm". Remember, water can kill you in two ways (if you fall in it or drink too much) so should we stop drinking it?

Hi Lynne,

Here's a quote from your link "Like the sun, sunbeds give out harmful UV rays which damage the DNA in our skin cells and can cause skin cancer." This is the point I'm trying to make. The press has concentrated on the dangers of sunbeds, when the dangers are, potentially, from both sunbeds and the sun.

But I'm also trying to make the point that UVA has been around from the dawn of time and life has been exposed to it and have survived because of it. People have the right to get a natural tan if they want but everybody also needs to be, sensibly, educated about the dangers too.

jes

And as I said in my post "overuse" of sunbeds will damage your skin. I never said anywhere that the occasional one is fatal. I said that OVERUSE of sunbeds will damage you.

I was a theatre sister and I used to spend two days a week every week cutting out skin cancers from people who had been overexposed to UVB rays. Ask any dermatologist and they will tell you the same thing "Overuse" of sunbeds will damage your skin and your health.

changing the fuse wont make any difference. you need a higher wattage ballast to opperate a stronger tube. you could put i higher wt tube in and it will light up but it wont tan you any stronger. for every tube you have you will have a ballast and they are not cheap to change. i pay between £50 and £25 each for ballasts so probably not worth changing them in your case and you would have to pay a sunbed specialist to do it for you

After all advice, do you really want to increase you clients risk of skin cancer?

Sunbeds are on the verge of being banned here in Aus, so you better rethink your profit and where you are making it from.

Making money from frying pink British skin into what can only be described as crackling will soon enough be frowned upon (it is already), just like it is here in AUS.

I can't understand how a salon manager can live with themselves knowing the dangers, yet selling a dangerous product/service for profit.

Actually, you should be ashamed.

Hear hear, Carl.

I agree with the previous postings. UV can be good for you for more than just one reason but as with everything in life its down to the dosage. After all a glass of wine is supposed to be good for us but a bottle per night is surely not!!!

there is always several reasons, whether it be genes, exposure or whatever maybe the cause but one thing is for sure - sunbeds or UV are not the only reason for skin cancer.

I have know several people that had skin cancer and funnily enough they have never ever been on a sunbed, neither were sunloving people so didnt go out like most of us to bake in the sun, non - smokers and all in all not exposing themselves to any risks at all, but hey that is just one of things......

I do agree that overexposure will cause damage but then again if people go on holiday and flop on the beach from 9am to 6pm they hardly have to worry about going on a sunbed for a few minutes!!!!!

Its all about being reasonable and respectful of the means we use!
Isnt it that grilled meat, mobile phones and god knows what is dangerous????????
