Taking colour through to the ends?

What method do you use,

I've seen different ways in different salons,
So someone's come in for root-regrowth, and you just want to freshen up the ends e.g brighten them up ,

Do you emulsify with water and rub it all together.

Or do you use color mixture and go through whole head again and apply to Mid-Lengths and ends?

Or another method ?

I want to know which is best.

Normally with wella, I would either take through root colours to the ends but mix with pastel or colour match with colour touch to re fresh ends, there is also perfection and colour fresh you can use, but these wouldn't last as long.

Depending on how much it needs brightened up. Generally i would apply root colour and for the last 10 mins i would comb through by spray with water and combing through or if i have over mixed i water that down and apply and comb through. If it really needs freshened up i would mix another bowl of colour maybe a semi to help it stick

Either use colour touch to refresh or I spray the remaining hair and put colour through for last 5-10 minutes xx
