Just a quick querie. When buffing off gel, does it always leave the natural nail a little rough? Am I doing something wrong? Also, would you normally cut the tip off first? Sorry to ask but I was taught to soak these off with acrylic and they took ages! Only just been told on here that I should have been buffing them off!!!

Also, I notice when people ask about what gel to use, no one ever recommends IBD. I use all their products and find them quite good. What does everyone else think??

I don't use IBD so can't recommend them :wink2: I do however use a buff-off gel and can help you re removal.
Start off with a 180 grit and as you get closer to the natural nail reduce it to a 240, you shouldn't have any roughness on the natural nail because you shouldn't be filing the natural nail... take it slowly as you get closer and you shouldn't have any problems. The tip should disappear as you're buffing/filing.

hth's :green:

hi, when im buffing off, i start with my highest grid file, i.e 100 grit and work my way down to 2000grit which should leave a nice shine on the nails. i also do cutilce work and use the heated mitts on the hand with a moisturising mask if they are a little bit dry. i find this moisturises the cuticles as well because they can be quiet dry after you remove nails. be careful not to over buff the natural nail as this causes the "damage" you hear peoplle giving out about when they have had gel/acrylic badly removed. it takes time and patience to buff off gels but there is a right way and a wrong way.

i dont think there is anything wrong with ibd gels, i know people who have success with them. i just think that its not a particularly well advertised brand in the uk so there arent so many users on this board who can recommend it. i know out in ukraine for instance it is a huge brand with loads of users.

Thanks very much for the replies. Out of curiousity, if you are mobile techs, what do you charge for take off?
