Hi everyone,

A client has asked me today if I'd be able to do a tartan pattern on her nails, I've sent her pictures of some decals I've found and some foils but she said she doesn't like any of them.

Would anyone be able to suggest a free hand tutorial? I've tried with striping my acrylic paint but it all just looks like a mishmash of stripes really :( I've searched on here but I can't find anything.

Thanks geeks x

I think one of the konad stamps has a tartan style. A good look could be achieved using two colours? Xx

Not too detailed but so simple just paint chosen background colour and use a striping brush to add different thickness of lines then go back with a gold pen and add small dashes :) hope this helps xx

They look gorgeous thanks!

Haha would've fallen for the tartan paint one if I hadn't fell for the tartan wool one last year when I wanted a tartan scarf :/ thanks everyone for your help xx

Hi
I saw a great post recently about encasing some tartan ribbon in acrylic on th nail. It looked amazing. Might that be an option?

This was my 1st attemp. But I didn't use different colours as it was to match a specific tartan and that didn't have differrnt colours.

Maybe could try striping paint if you don't like free hand? Xxx

I just draw 4 coloured squares. Connect then vertically and horizontally with a double black line and then trim with a cold broken up line as you can see in the pics. It literally takes 10 seconds xx

P.s I use gel polish with a striping brush acrylic paints Not the right consistency for striping in my opinion

Hope this helps xx

Bit clearer. This was my own hands so messy. Not too difficult to do though with the ribbon

I did these on myself yesterday just using a striping brush? I've managed a tartan pattern before but I think this looks the best.
