erm .. am i allowed to make something official, lol
starting up again in makeup, and slowly building my kit back up from scratch as i stupidly sold it when i went on mat leave :irked:
anyway, thought this would be a good place for mua's to discuss whats in their kit, advise those just starting out etc .. i know there is a popular makeup forum, but keep seing more and more posts on salon geek asking for recommendations for makeup, accessories etc .. thought would be good to have it all in one place
so here's my latest buy, my new kit bag which has enough pouches/compartments to hold my makeup, brushes, accessories, few polishes and eyelash extensions/threading kit .. havent decided wht to put in the back pack bit yet, lol .. its just like a zucca, in fact i think its better than my old zuca which i sold before giving up

lovely case :) im looking for a new trolley case myself so thanks for sharing :) ..... what brushes have you chosen?
.... im also building up my make up kit all over again lol i gave up make up for a 2 year period and just concentrated on salon treatments but getting back into mobile make-up, lashes and nails again as I love it .... Have fun building your kit back up :) xxx

thankfully held on to some of my mac brushes, 190 etc and have just added few from crown

funds little limited, so building kit bit by bit, as have also taken on more training in other areas and have to pay for kit/products there too

makeupwise, just bought the urban decay naked palette, some bb gel liner pots, and my favourite MAC fleur power blusher plus few la femme blushers .. really cheap with great pigment - heard lots mua in america using them, so thought id try and cant fault them, have decanted pans into a palette though as looked a bit cheap lol x

snap - they're the areas i'll be specialising in - makeup, lashes and nails (minx& shellac) :)

so what are you latest makeup buys?

Can't wait to hear replies as I'm trying to move from beauty therapy to mua, love the look of that bag tho

I love my Zuca, it's the best thing I have ever owned. Everything fit's in just great in the pouches and the case itself fit's nicely into my car, which only has a tiny boot. The best thing about it is that it is designed so that you can sit on it which is damn helpful on location shoots.

As for products, lots. I trained professionaly as a MUA 2 years ago and have since spent around £3k on products (and yes they do all fit into that tiny case!). A total mix of Chanel, Dior, Bobbi Brown, MAC, Estee Lauder, Makeup Forever, Ben Nye, Kryolan, Benefit, Screenface and YSL with a few bit's of Barry M which is great for creative stuff. I've got about 40+ MAC brushes with at least 2 or 3 of the main ones (190, 187, 217, 214) so I have clean ones to use when doing bridal so I can just get on with it, saves loads of time.

I also use the Airbase airbrush make-up but I'm still not happy with some of the results on certain skin types but it's also great for creative stuff as other brands do colour that can be used through it.

I have become totally obsessed with colleting make-up (especially the brushes) and I think I am a very long way from done!

sharkster - drooling over your 40 makeup brushes, lol :) .. have you tried any from sam chapmans collection?

yes, i must admit being able to 'sit' on your zuca is a great feature lol :) but im finding the roo salon one just as good and its more in line with my 'current' makeup budget ;)

My Mum bought my Zuca as a 40th birthday prezzie otherwise I would be using the Roo case! It looks real good.

Yes I am a brush Junkie and buy a few each month to build the kit up. I was finding that it was taking time to clean the brushes in between faces and especially to get the 217's real dry how I like them for blending so I just brought a few of the essential ones. I can't stand manky brushes!

When I get time I will go through your kit post with the products I use.

Just want to say loving this thread.
I used art deco years ago for wedding makeups. I loved it and would definitely recommend giving it a go.
Also a big fan of mac, And rather like sleek palettes.
Looking forward to budding up my kit as I can and will be avidly watching this thread. Those bags are amazing! I want one now :)

also urban decays 'naked' palette (gorgeous neutrals) is a good starting point for bridals .. and at £30ish wont break the bank, i love it !! well i love all urban decays palettes and their eyelash curler is brilliant so easy to use, it has no sides and you can get up real close .. dont use my shu ones so much anymore ;) £16ish think got mine from debenhams

* Primer - Laura Mercier Oil Free, Airbase, Smashbox, Makeup Forever HD Primer in Green & Pink, Urban Decay Primer Potion for eyes
* Concealers - Bobbi Brown University Pallette, Makeup Forever Pallette, MAC Select Cover up, Vichy Dermablend (foundation but I use it as a concealer)
* Foundation - Chanel Pro-Lumier, MAC Face & Body, Diorskin Forever, Airbase
* Powder - Makeup Forever HD Loose Powder, MAC Blot Powder
* Blusher - MAC 6 Pan Pro Pallette, Ben Nye 8 Pan Pallette, MAC Cream Colour Base
* Eyeshadow - 3 x MAC 15 Pan Pro Pallette, Selection of Bobbi Brown Longwear Cream Shadow, MAC Pigments & Glitter (Reflex Pearl gets used a lot), Coastal Scents 120 pan pallette (in case of emergency, I've had it since college but the payoff is not great on some colours)
* Eyeliner - various MAC, Illamasqua, Bobbi Brown Longwear Gel Eyeliner, some Barry M for colourful shoots
* Mascara - Max Factor Masterpiece Max (the best in my opinion!)
* Highlighter - Benefit High Beam & Moon Beam, MAC Silver Dusk
* Contour/Bronzer - Guerlain Terracotta, MAC
* Lipsticks - Selection of Chanel Coco Rouge, MAC (esp Viva Glam), Estee Lauder, Clinique, Lancome. I've depotted them into a Japonesque pallette.
* Lipgloss - MAC, Chanel, Illamasqua
* Fixing Spray - Makeup Forever Mist & Fix
* Lashes - Salon Systems or Eyelure

I think that's it as I've, listed everything from memory as I can't be bothered to drag it all out of my case!

Sharkster I have some serious kit envy after reading this thread!

I have to say that my MAC strobe cream and their creme blush in 'Ladyblush' are two essentials for my kit. I use them both so much, they are fab.
I also like the Vichy Dermablend foundation to use as a concealer. I did a make up lesson recently for a girl with problem skin and the coverage from the Vichy was fab, she was really pleased with the results.
I love things that come in palettes or that you can put into palettes, makes organising my kit so much easier.

Thanks Gemster,

I have a seriously empty bank account!

I have a case from artdeco which has an over the shoulder strap and a box case.
I use bobbi brown and Jane iredale brushes, I have about 35 brushes and I would say about 30% of them never get touched so be careful when buying brushes they are so expensive and a total waste if you don't use them. I have loads of BB eye brushes but love my Jane iredale ones - I think it's just what you are used too and feel more comfortable with.
In my kit I use a big variety of brands - I use MAC and smashbox face primers.
Estee Lauder, mac, lancome, artdeco, bare minerals and Jane iredale foundations.
YSL, artdeco and bobbi brown concealor and a professional camouflage pallette by artdeco.
Bare minerals mineral vale is my favourite loose powder and well as Laura mercier.
For highlighters I love st tropez radiance and bobbi brown shimmer bricks.
For blushers again shimmer bricks, nars, lancome blush subtl, artdeco mineral blushers. Also love bare minerals warmth for conturing.
I use urban decay eye primer. Have loads of different shadows, love urban decay palettes especially naked, mac, dior, chanel, artdeco.
Liners I use bare minerals liner, artdeco kajel liners and BB gel liners.
Mascara MAC, dior and lancome.
Brows - artdeco brow pencils and benefit brow zing.
Lipsticks and glosses I love chanel coco rouge, bare minerals buxom glosses, mac lipglass, mac lip colours are also fab and huge variety, also love juicy tubes and artdeco chilli booster.

Apologies for spelling mistakes (my iPhone auto 'corrects' things) also I'm sure there's products I've forgot! Xxx

Great thread!!!

This is the case i ordered afew days ago from america, should be here in afew days
Pro Black Rolling Makeup Case w/Drawers

As for the contents, I mainly use MAC. I have ordered loads of NYX lipsticks and lipliners though from cherry culture. They have a great sale on most of the NYX stuff. I ordered twice and never paid any custom :).
The lipliners in my opinion are just like the MAC ones.

I'm thinking of getting the la femme blushers. Ive heard so much good stuff about them!.

My brushes are a mix if MAC and crown.

Sleek is a very good brand, you'll be amazed at the quality. I've compared MAC carbon eyeshadow with the black eyeshadow in the sleek palette and the MAC is no way near as pigmented as the sleek one!

Keep this thread going girls! :)

Eeekkkkk I'm soooo excited I met with the art deco rep today and ordered some of their products to start my kit off!! Also bought a few sleek products as I really like the colours and can't wait to get more and keep adding to it :)

Artdeco lippies are fab! They have a great choice of colours but there range is more aimed at editorial and bridal rather than high fashion so you won't get any crazy colours. I really like there glosses too I have a few of them in my kit and love there chilli lip booster!! I also love artdeco mineral blushers and rich treatment foundation xxx

Definitely call them again the rep came to my house as I'm mobile, there whole range is good there lots of choice too, the lipsticks are really nice but Im in love with there lip glosses there so lush!

The rep was great gave me loads of info brought all products for me to play with and put my order together for me :) they don't have a minimum order either so it suits anyones budget! As somebody else said the eyeshadows are more on the neutral side but that's why I got some sleek to go with it.

Also in my kit now I've got some bobbi brown, urban decay, colour s and lancome products, still building it up at the moment but keep getting it out and showing everyone lol :)
