congrats on a great decision! first I should clarify that both of these are types of acrylic, just two different application methods. I offer both of those services to my clients and about 98% prefer the acrylic l&p, I will do the occasional dip for a client that doesn't normally wear enhancements, I consider this my "party nail" product, as they soak off very quickly and I don't offer back-fills on them (I use a white tip and pink powder-no white powder), thus I offer them as a temporary enhancement to clients who are not planning on keeping them on. basically, I consider the l&p acrylics to be a more permanent type of enhancement. I would recommend training with a l&p or gel system initially as these are what most of your potential clients are going to request, then when you start to build a clientele go back to school and learn some of the less sought after methods (that is, unless you're able to learn both methods to begin with!). keep in mind that this only my own opinion and there are techs who use a dip system for their permanent enhancements and they work just as well! goodluck in whatever you decide to do!

I got ahead of myself posting my reply! lol, let me just add that there are odorless l&p systems as well, but you'll want to make sure you have a good ventilation system anyway (especially if you're working from home and have 3 little ones!) plus it will do wonders for the smell! and ps: it doesn't bother me at all but you'll find that referring to enhancements as "false" or "fake" nails REALLY offends a lot of techs, just for future reference if you're planning on sticking around the threads with us! I hope you do! there's a wealth of knowledge on these message boards and lots of amazingg techs to learn from! keep us posted!
