:)Hi everyone - can anyone advise on what the industry's current thoughts are on the use of steam in facial treatments? Or, point me to any industry publications on the subject?

Was at ID Institute undergraduate training day yesterday, and we used both steam and hot towels in each facial treatment. This was on young clients with congested skin, through to older clients (with the odd broken capilary). The educators confirmed that steam & hot towels in their facial treatment was appropriate.

Reading a few online thoughts on the subject seems there is contention on whether steam is still appropriate.

What think you geeks?....lotsa love, jtp x

I'm still training , but I can't imagine not using steam, and certaintly would be disappointed in a facial without steam.

The only time I would think to skip the steam is if the client had roseaca, or a bad sunburn.
