Hey!
I’ve recently qualified and joined a salon but I’m having regrets as they regularly use box dyes on clients and offer walk-in colours and perms without patch testing, I won’t take a client who I’ve personally not patch tested at least 48 hrs before but the manager isn’t happy that I’m ‘ turning good money’ away and she said it’s common for salons to use boxdyes.
I know I need to leave but I feel I can’t leave clients at risk what can I do ?

Are you employed or self employed?
Either way, the manager is being extremely unprofessional.
No decent salon would even consider using box dyes on clients.
The only ones that might do are likely to be salons that happily take shortcuts to save a few bob and so re-use client towels without properly washing them, re-fill the brand name backwash bottles with the cheapest shampoo available, don’t ensure their tools are cleaned properly using barbicide (or equivalent) and other con tricks.

Do you know if they’re actually insured as they certainly won’t be covered if a client complains when a box colour goes wrong and they’ve not done a patch test.

In your position, I’d start looking for a new salon.

Get a new job- it isn’t that common unless your in a unprofessional salon
