I use Spangles nail art sealer to stick the gems on and then a top coat of the sealer aswell, but I always get some of them losing the gems or foil shapes and end up having to put them on again. Time is definately a factor as they don't want to sit around waiting for their nails to dry!

So is it ok to use nail adhesive on young girls nails as I know this would adhere the gems etc better? I'm just worried that they wouldn't be able to get them off again!

Thanks ladies,

Jayne x

they would obviously be able to get them off... (acetone works miracle on this)

but how old are they?

The last one I did was for 5 year old and am just worried it might be too harsh a product to use on youngsters!

Young kids always knock gems off regardless of what you use tbh mate.

wow. 5 yrs old. I would NEVER do anything on kids that young. I maybe retarded or whatever, but I don't even do a p&w on teens until they're 16 (and I only do with parents' word), it makes them look older than they are and I don't want to take this moral responsibility.

as it's been said, kids will take them off, whatever you use, esp that young. they'll be eating them and stuff.

on the other hand, the other day a boy friend of mine wanted a glitter on his pinkie, I glued it and it stayed for 3 weeks... (needless to say, with intensive care from the guy)

I don't do enhancements on them - only nail polish, flicks, flowers, gems etc! And only if the parent has consented!

Maybe I'll just do painted flowers and flicks then in the future!

ok then... you make me feel less retarded LOL

but again... when I was a kid I'd eat anything on my hands and nails... don't think it's any good.

parents these days LOL

Well as the mother of a 12 year old girl, going on 22!!! I can say wholeheartedly that they love anything that glitters or sparkles (from about the age of 3 in my personal experience...lol) I would be happy to put gems on a 5 year old, but only using a topcoat to fix. I would not want responsibility for a little one picking off gems that had been glued on as I am sure they could damage the nail plate. I would carry on as you are, if losing the gems is a problem, then try the sparkly foils with topcoat or the sticker transfers or confetti and dried flowers. By the age of 5 children have generally stopped eating things that look like a foreign body, they just like to wear it instead (mums best makeup and perfume included!!) Hth's

I have put gems on my daughter (9) many times using nail adhesive, if you are using a basecoat, then the design then a topcoat and then the adhesive, it isn't actually on the nail but on the layers of enamel. Her gems can last for 1-2 weeks and have never damaged her nails when knocked/taken off.

I put little nail stickers on my bf's little girl, they are harmless and make her feel like a grown up girl, they obviously don't last very long but makes her happy :)

Thanks for the replies ladies...

I'm still not sure about using the adhesive on youngsters so can any of you recommend a better product than the Spangles sealer I've been using - or are they are much the same?

Thanks again
